An indicia reader system includes an indicia reader provided at a point of transaction; a controller for controlling power to the indicia reader; a detector for detecting a customer, item or shopping cart at the point of transaction and providing an indication signal to the controller of the presence of customer, item or shopping cart at the point of transaction; wherein the controller interrupts power to the indicia reader during a power save mode and resumes power to the indicia reader upon receiving the indication signal.

Abstract:

An article transporting conveyor roller having a frictional drive transmission component as the last link between the drive power source and the live portion of the roller. The frictional surface of the drive component extends around the entire inner surface of the live portion of the roller so as to provide a true linear relationship between the weight of the article conveyed and the frictional force of the drive component. The frictional drive transmission component allows the live portion of the roller to stop moving in the event of accumulation of the articles to be transported.

Abstract:

A low friction bearing composition comprising a major portion of a thermoplastic resin other than polytetrafluoroethylene and a minor portion of a filled polytetrafluoroethylene material, said filled polytetrafluoroethylene material consisting essentially of at least 50% by volume of polytetrafluoroethylene polymer and the remainder being a filler material, said filler material comprising a first filler material and a second, different filler material, said first filler material being selected from the group of soft metals and soft metallic oxides or sulfides having lubricating properties such as lead and its oxides, cadmium and its oxides, titanium oxide, zinc oxide, molybdenum disulfide, and antimony and its oxides and trioxides, said second filler material being selected from a group of hard filler materials such as bronze, copper alloy, glass and ceramic. The composition is readily formed by injection molding and hot extrusion methods and exhibits wear resistance at room temperatures substantially equal to polytetrafluoroethylene compositions which are fabricated by cold forming and sintering techniques.
