Abstract:
A rear view mirror assembly is disclosed in which the mirror has a viewing section and an alignment section meeting to form a reflex angle. The alignment section is etched with a targeting image: a cross-hair or the side surface of the vehicle. When the targeting image is aligned with appropriate feature on the side of the vehicle, the reflex angle is such that the mirror is properly aligned. Also disclosed is a mirror assembly having viewing section and an alignment section with a clear protective outer layer a selective acceptance layer below the clear protective outer layer, and a colored substrate below the selective layer. When the vehicle operator can see the colored substrate through the selective acceptance layer, which transmits only normal light, the mirror is properly aligned.

A rear view minor assembly is disclosed in which the minor has a viewing section and an alignment section meeting to form a reflex angle. The alignment section is etched with a targeting image: a cross-hair or the side surface of the vehicle. When the targeting image is aligned with appropriate feature on the side of the vehicle, the reflex angle is such that the minor is properly aligned. Abstract:
A knock control system for internal combustion engines comprising a knock sensor and a knock detection circuit that uses an electronic engine controller. The knock sensor creates an electrical output signal indicating the presence of engine structure vibrations resulting from engine combustion characteristics. The circuit filters the knock sensor signal, time gated at independent crankshaft angles, and transfers it to a noise channel and to a knock channel. A comparator distinguishes between background vibration and vibrations during the combustion event that are due to knock. The knock detection function, along with the crankshaft angle position reference signal, develops time gated "snapshot" signals indicating the magnitudes for both the background noise and the vibrations created by denotation and distinguishes between them. These signals are processed by the knock detection system along with the engine controller's other system variables to influence engine control parameter changes to prevent further knock.

International Classification:
B60J 7/047
Abstract:
In an embodiment, the presently disclosed method for coupling a sunroof assembly to a structural frame of a vehicle includes the following steps: (a) moving a sunroof module and a bond frame of the sunroof assembly through a windshield opening of the structural frame and toward a roof portion of the structural frame; (b) securing the sunroof module to the roof portion of the structural frame; (c) moving a locating fixture downwardly toward the roof portion of the structural frame; (d) inserting the frame pins of the locating fixture in frame pockets of the structural frame; (e) applying a first clamping force to the structural frame and the locating fixture; (f) inserting the sunroof pins of the locating fixture in the sunroof pockets of the bond frame; (g) applying a second clamping force to the bond frame; and (h) securing the bond frame to the sunroof module.

Abstract:
A method for coupling a sunroof glass apparatus includes the following steps: (a) moving a fixture toward a roof portion of a vehicle body in order to insert a plurality of pins of the fixture into locating holes formed in the vehicle body; (b) coupling net plates to the arms of an actuating mechanism of the sunroof assembly; (c) decoupling the fixture from the net plates while maintaining the net plates coupled to the arms of the actuating mechanism; and (d) coupling the flanges of the sunroof glass apparatus to arms of the actuating mechanism via the net plates in order to movably couple the sunroof glass apparatus to the vehicle body. In another embodiment, the presently disclosed method may additionally include coupling the net plates to the fixture before moving the fixture toward the roof portion of the vehicle body.

Abstract:
Systems for analyte detection are disclosed. The system includes absorption channels positioned along a surface of an object. The absorption channels are configured to trap an analyte. The system further includes a sensor embedded in the object and configured to detect the presence of the analyte. The sensor includes a light source configured to transmit light and a detector configured to detect a change in an intensity of light transmitted by the light source. The sensor further includes a cable configured to connect the light source to the detector, wherein the cable comprises detection regions, and wherein the detection regions include a portion of the cable exposed to the analyte in the absorption channel.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for detecting target chemicals are disclosed. A system includes a chemical sensor configured to filter light. The chemical sensor includes a referencing arm configured to output light at a first intensity level and a sensing arm sensitive to a target chemical. The sensing arm is configured to output light at a second intensity level. A difference between the first intensity level and the second intensity level indicates a presence of the target chemical.

Will the Church Fail or Fulfill Martin Luther King Jr's Legacy?
adjustment has been exciting and, if I'm being honest, deeply terrifying on some levels. Standing in the pulpit where voices like Martin Luther King, Jr.; William Sloan Coffin, James Forbes -- not to mention luminaries like Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama have spoken -- it's daunting to say the least.
