Abstract:
An ink fountain mechanism for adjustably metering the thickness of of ink in a plurality of zones axially across a fountain roller for a printing press includes a plurality of metering blocks, horizontally aligned and axially adjacent to one another with side-by-side upper support surfaces forming a substantially continuous support surface along the length of the fountain roller. Each upper surface of the metering blocks is adjustably spaced from the ink receiving fountain roller. A plurality of adjustment bolts are each separately and threadably engaged with each of the plurality of metering blocks. The adjustment bolts are slideably supported in a main beam that extends the length of the fountain roller. A plurality of lever actuated cams are pivotably held adjacent to the heads of each of the adjustment bolts. Metering cams are engaged with the heads of the adjustment bolts and are actuatable between a minimum position, providing a minimum ink metered thickness, and a maximum position, providing a maximum metered ink thickness.
Ink Fountain Assembly With Non-Tilt Cheeks And Liner Replacement Mechanism
A non-tilt cheek assembly is provided for use in an ink fountain assembly. An ink fountain mechanism for adjustably metering the thickness of the layer of ink in a plurality of zones axially across a fountain roller for a printing press. The ink fountain mechanism includes a plurality of metering blocks, horizontally aligned and axially adjacent to one another with side-by-side upper support surfaces forming a substantially continuous support surface along the length of the fountain roller. Each upper surface of the metering blocks is adjustably spaced from the fountain roller to control the amount of ink, in a zone corresponding to the side-to-side length of the support surface of each metering block. A plurality of adjustment bolts are each separately and threadably engaged with each of the plurality of metering blocks. The adjustment bolts are slideably supported in a main beam that extends the length of the fountain roller.
In an embodiment, a non-transparent memory unit is provided which includes a non-transparent memory and a control circuit. The control circuit may manage the non-transparent memory as a set of non-transparent memory blocks. Software executing on one or more processors may request a non-transparent memory block in which to process data. The control circuit may allocate a first block, and may return an address (or other indication) of the allocated block so that the software can access the block. The control circuit may also provide automatic data movement between the non-transparent memory and a main memory system to which the non-transparent memory unit is coupled. For example, the automatic data movement may include filling data from the main memory system to the allocated block, or flushing the data in the allocated block to the main memory system after the processing of the allocated block is complete.
In one embodiment, a memory that is delineated into transparent and non-transparent portions. The transparent portion may be controlled by a control unit coupled to the memory, along with a corresponding tag memory. The non-transparent portion may be software controlled by directly accessing the non-transparent portion via an input address. In an embodiment, the memory may include a decoder configured to decode the address and select a location in either the transparent or non-transparent portion. Each request may include a non-transparent attribute identifying the request as either transparent or non-transparent. In an embodiment, the size of the transparent portion may be programmable. Based on the non-transparent attribute indicating transparent, the decoder may selectively mask bits of the address based on the size to ensure that the decoder only selects a location in the transparent portion.
In an embodiment, a cache stores tags for cache blocks stored in the cache. Each tag may include an indication identifying which of two or more replacement policies supported by the cache is in use for the corresponding cache block, and a replacement record indicating the status of the corresponding cache block in the replacement policy. Requests may include a replacement attribute that identifies the desired replacement policy for the cache block accessed by the request. If the request is a miss in the cache, a cache block storage location may be allocated to store the corresponding cache block. The tag associated with the cache block storage location may be updated to include the indication of the desired replacement policy, and the cache may manage the block in accordance with the policy. For example, in an embodiment, the cache may support both an LRR and an LRU policy.

A sheet feed roller system for reversing the sheet contact side of a sheet feed mechanism for an offset printing press. A traction roller is attached to a pivot shaft in the place of an idler roller. A non-traction roller is attached in the place of a drive roller. A transmission is provided having a rotary input connectable to the press for receiving rotational power from the press and having a rotary output. A variant axes drive mechanism with a first end and a second end is constructed so that the first end couples to the rotary output of the transmission. A power roller is attached and coupled to the second end of the variant axes drive mechanism and so that it pivots with the pivot shaft and remains in rotational contact with the traction roller to impart rotational power to the traction roller. The power roller and the traction roller pivot together about the pivot shaft toward and away from contact with the non-traction roller so that a sheet to be fed is engaged between the traction roller and the non-traction roller and is propelled into the printing press by rolling contact with the traction roller.
A carrier for condiment and beverage containers has an upright sidewall affixed to a horizontal bottom that cooperates with the sidewall to form a storage area to receive and hold condiment and beverage containers. A horizontal platform integral with the bottom extends outward with respect to the sidewall terminating with an outer end. An elongate dowel is affixed to the platform between the outer end of the platform and the sidewall. The elongate dowel extends upright with respect to the platform, and is to receive thereabout a paper towel roll and the platform to receive and support an end of the paper towel roll received thereabout the elongate dowel.
