Experience Summary: With more than 25 years of experience in the printing and packaging arena I possess a wide variety of mastered skills throughout all phases of the packaging process. I started my career training and directing art departments in all areas of color separation, color management, trapping and color proofing. Then was asked to provide workflow solution and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the press floor and manufacturing operation. These acquired skills have allowed me as a sales person to objectively evaluate job-to-job customer needs and generate successful custom solutions. Matthews Brand Solutions brought me on board because of my ability to successfully produce high-end primary packaging products. By providing companies with cost effective solutions and eliminating repeatability issues I earned credibility as a results driven consultant and successful problems solver they could count on day to day. Ive been acknowledged by my customers as a effective sales professional that can take any project from start to finish successfully minimizing the need for additional support personnel. Examples of solutions and cost savings opportunities: Evaluating branded product lines to determine how many colors throughout each design can be commonly shared across the family of items. I look for ways to reduce colors for a higher quality end product without sacrificing the intended look developed by marketing team and the creative group. These cost savings options are discussed up front. Evaluate multiple designs within a family to determine if any of the products can be ganged together to reduce cost. Work with marketing & creative team up front to review potential press related/quality issues. If a product line uses common photography I would propose 1 target proof for color matching, and supply the remaining items with a less expensive composite proof for checking content reducing overall cost. Proposal of extended gamut technology for multiple product variations across web if applicable. I possess comprehensive knowledge of all the facets involved in the printing process and the ability to answer complicated technical questions onsite without additional support personnel. Over the last five years at Matthews Brand Solutions I have worked with converters and consumer product companies. In this time I have developed long term relationships with companies such as: News America Marketing, Uncle Wallys, OK Foods, Arkansas Poly, Plastic Packaging Technologies, Robbie Manufacturing, Gems of Fruit, DeElliotte, NAP Industries, Admiral Packaging, US Cotton, Paris Packaging, Consolidated Packaging, Classic Packaging, Aladdin Packaging, Pioneer Balloon, Dakota Style Potato Chips, Courier Pack, Poly Pak, Lifoam Industries, Zapps Potato Chips, Deluxe Packaging, Pinnacle Foods, Gibraltar-Rosmar, Ricos Products, Longhorn Packaging and The Sunflower Group. The services I sell the packaging industry include high-end design conception & layout, design evaluation, color management, trapping, color contamination controls, color match proofing, press characterization profiling, asset & file management systems, plate-making and onsite workflow & process consulting. My work with OK Foods is an example of this process which produced repeatability through the product life cycle and minimize waste in raw materials, consumables and labor dollars. I worked with the marketing and creative team up front and identified design issues that on press would create undesirable results. These areas of the design were modified to accommodate flexible packaging requirements. I also supplied our production team with 4C process ink draw downs that later would be apply to the target proofs we provided. Finally, I worked with the press floor operators to capture press characterization samples that would be utilized to gain specific information about the press and how we would address the color management of the files and cutback curves prior to plating. We would also use this information to apply a push curve to the target proof supplied for matching color on press.
