Abstract:

A modular overhead console assembly and headliner combination for a passenger compartment of a vehicle includes a headliner having an upper surface, a lower surface and an elongated slot formed therethrough. An overhead console mounting arrangement is attachable to the headliner adjacent the elongated slot. The mounting arrangement includes an upper member mountable to the headliner such that the upper member extends above the upper surface of the headliner and a lower member attachable to the upper member such that the lower member extends below the lower surface of the headliner. A channel in the lower member receives and secures at least one removable accessory module. At least one electrically conductive strip is disposed adjacent the channel in the lower member to provide power to the module via electrical connectors on the module housing.

Abstract:

An overhead console assembly and headliner combination for a vehicle includes a headliner having an upper surface, a lower surface and an elongated channel formed therein. An overhead console mounting arrangement securable to the headliner including opposing first and second rails having a rail extension and a power connector arrangement in communication with a vehicle electrical system. One or more accessory modules are selectively positionable and removably attachable to the opposing first and second rails with an accessory module mounting arrangement. The accessory module including a module housing, a door pivotally mounted to the housing and a storage area defined within the housing configured to receive and store items. The accessory module includes at least one electrical connector disposed on an outer surface of the module housing which engages the power connector arrangement on one of the opposing first and second rails to supply power to the accessory module.

A system for vehicle interior electrical power distribution includes an electrical power track assembly having at least one electrical power strip and at least one electrical ground strip, and an electrical connector assembly slidable in the track assembly. The electrical connector assembly has a first set of electrical contacts and a second set of electrical contacts. The present invention relates to a vehicle overhead console assembly supportable in a vehicle. In at least one embodiment, the console assembly comprises a console body, an actuator slidably supported by the console body between a first position and a second position, and a storage bin pivotally connected to the console body. The storage bin is pivotally movable between a stowed position, a first use position, and a second use position. The storage bin has a mirror secured thereto. The storage bin has a stop tab that is selectively engageable with a stop surface of the actuator to enable the storage bin to selectively pivot to the first or second use position.
