Abstract:

An undivided electrochemical cell. The electrochemical cell includes a housing defining an undivided chamber, the housing having one electrolyte inlet and at least two electrolyte outlets; an anode in the chamber; a cathode in the chamber; and an electrolyte in the chamber, wherein the anode and the cathode are not gas diffusion electrodes. The invention also involves a method of operating an electrochemical cell, and methods for making ferrate(VI).

Abstract:

A piston assembly () for a flowable materials container having a barrel () defining a fluid containing chamber (). The barrel () is made of a body of a cyclic olefin containing polymer or a bridged polycyclic olefin containing polymer. An elastomeric piston () is slidably attached to the barrel () and provides a seal of the chamber. The piston () has a parylene coating on an outer surface thereof to reduce the necessary break away force. A plunger () is also provided and has a second mating member () removably connecting the plunger to a first mating member () of the piston. The first mating member () has a series of threads having a major diameter and a minor diameter, and the second mating member () has a series of threads having a major diameter and a minor diameter. The major and minor diameters of the second mating members () is appreciably smaller than the major and minor diameters of the other of the first mating member () to provide ease of connection.
