Abstract:

A yarn organizer, for conveniently holding and displaying a great variety of yarns, having at least two arms and a pivoting axle. The arms are substantially flat and have a connected end, a free end, and a plurality of openings extending fully through the arms. The openings are longitudinally spaced between the connected end and the free end. The pivoting axle extends transversely through the connected ends of the arms and allows the arms to pivot with respect to each other to selectively allow the arms to either fully or partially overlap each other. Spacers, which are located on the pivoting axle between the arms, allow for sufficient clearance for the yarn to extend through the openings of each arm and wrap around the side of the arm having that opening. Each opening of each yarn is uniquely identified with indicia.

Abstract:

A field effect transistor (147) is formed in a region of a second semiconductor layer (171), having a first conductivity type. A tank region (196) of a second conductivity type opposite the first conductivity type is formed in the semiconductor region (171), and defines a tank area on the face of the semiconductor layer (171). A first highly doped region (276) formed to be of the first conductivity type is formed within the region (171) and to be spaced from the tank region (196). A gate insulator layer (218) is formed on at least one selected portion of the face, this selected portion including a portion of the tank area (196). A conductive gate (246) is formed on the gate insulator layer over the selected portion of the face. At least one second highly doped region (278) is formed at the face within the tank area to be of the first conductivity type, and to have at least one lateral edge self-aligned to a corresponding one of the lateral edges of the gate (246 ). The tank area forms a channel between the first highly doped region (276) and the second highly doped region (278).

Abstract:

Two modifications of an offshore marine seismic energy source tow system are disclosed. Both systems comprise transmitters and receivers therein for continuously measuring the distance between a vessel towed submerged geophone streamer cable and a towed seismic air gun supporting paravane on each side of the streamer cable for generating and transmitting corrective steering signals to the paravane for maintaining each seismic air gun spaced from the towed submerged geophones at an exact predetermined distance for producing more accurate seismic velocity measurements. One embodiment has the acoustic transmitter on the geophone streamer cable and an acoustic receiver on each paravane in line with the transmitter, and a second embodiment has an acoustic transmitter on each paravane and a corresponding acoustic receiver for each paravane on the geophone streamer cable transversely of the transmitter. Methods for assembling the above two systems are disclosed.

Abstract:

A marine seismic data acquisition system and method includes a plurality of hydrophone arrays. A marine cable is towed in the water by a boat. The marine cable includes a plurality of active modules. Each active module is connected to a corresponding hydrophone array and collects seismic data from the geophones. The marine cable also includes a plurality of passive modules interspersed with a plurality of active modules, with each passive module generating, receiving and transmitting signals. The passive modules and the active modules are connected by electrical wires with each other and to the electronic equipment on the boat. The electronic equipment on the boat includes a subsystem for activating the active modules; another subsystem for interrogating the active modules and the passive modules and circuitry connected to the activating subsystem and to the interrogation subsystem which determines the source of transmission errors in signals received over the marine cable.
