Abstract:
Making a tire mold having a plurality of complete tire mold segments ( ) of epoxy resin mold material formed in the chambers ( ) of segmental shoes ( ) and having reinforced stand alone ribs ( ) formed in recesses in the tread models mounted in the shoes. The shoes ( ) and models ( ) are reusable and have standard shoe split diameters and chord lengths to reduce the time necessary to make the molds. The models ( ) are of resilient material and are also reusable.

Abstract:
A method of making a tire mold segment with a porous metal tread surface for a tire mold wherein an annular segmental tire model of refractory material is formed with tire model segments which are used to shape and form each tire mold segment from powdered metal by applying heat and pressure to sinter the powdered metal as it is shaped by the tire model segment. Blades may be mounted in the tire model segments for transfer to the tire mold segments for molding slits a tire tread.

Abstract:
This invention relates to a composite of a melamine derivative, particularly a liquid melamine derivative, and carbon black. A representative melamine derivative is, for example, comprised of an alkoxymethylmelamine such as hexamethoxymethylmelamine. The invention further relates to a rubber composition containing such composite of a melamine derivative and carbon black and to a rubber composition containing such composite as a methylene donor in combination with a methylene acceptor and the reaction product thereof in situ within said rubber composition. Such rubber composition may be a component of an article of manufacture, which may contain or be exclusive of, wire reinforcement, such as for example a component of a tire, vehicular track or industrial belt or hose.

Abstract:
The invention is the chemical composition and method for forming a chemical conversion coating on ferrous metal surfaces and subsequent coloring of said conversion coating through the application of a water-soluble dye. The conversion coating has an ordered crystalline structure composed of ferrous oxalate or other ferrous dicarboxylates. The conversion coating can be colored through the application of a water-soluble reactive dye which bonds with Fe (II) within the ferrous dicarboxylate matrix, bound to the dicarboxylate molecules, thereby becoming water insoluble and permanent. When sealed with an appropriate rust preventive top coat, the result is an attractive and protective finish of minimal thickness which can be applied through simple immersion process techniques. Said finish can serve as a final protective finish on a fabricated ferrous metal article and also affords a degree of lubricity for assembly, break-in purposes, or anti-galling protection and serves as an adhesive base for paint.

Abstract:
A method for securing splices in uncured rubber articles prior to vulcanization and secured splices resulting therefrom. The method includes covering a splice and two ends of uncured rubber with syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene, adhering the syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene to the uncured rubber adjacent to the splice, and curing the rubber. The rubber compound to which the syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene is adhered does not have to contain syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene. In addition, because the syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene is preferably melted into the rubber compound, there are no uniformity problems caused by the additional layer over the splice.

Abstract:
A computer system having two processors and storage where storage is segmented so as to permit simultaneous access by the two processors with the address path of one processor being limited to a particular segment of storage so as to eliminate contention in other segments. One processor can address all segments of storage and place processed data into and retrieve data from the segment of storage accessible by the other processor. This eliminates the need for cycle stealing because the other processor can access processed data or store data while the one processor simultaneously accesses another segment of storage. Storage contention is resolved on the basis of addressing. If both processors are simultaneously trying to address the same segment of storage, the processor which can address all segments of storage is granted the access.
