Pressure Sensitive Trip Mechanism For Circuit Breakers
Jason Harmon - Bristol CT, US Gary Douville - West Hartford CT, US Jayanath Jayanthan - Muthukulam, South, IN
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
H01H 9/00
US Classification:
335172, 218154, 335165
Abstract:
A circuit breaker having a set of electrical contacts, a first actuator in fluid communication with the set of electrical contacts, a second actuator in operable communication with the first actuator, and an operating mechanism in operable communication with the set of electrical contacts and the second actuator is disclosed. Pressurized gas created by separation of the set of electrical contacts acts on and drives the first actuator, which acts on and drives the second actuator, which effectuates tripping of the operating mechanism.
A circuit breaker assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a base having an interior bottom surface that includes a first engagement feature and a circuit breaker cassette having an exterior bottom surface that includes a second engagement feature. The cassette is oriented in the base to provide for a current path through the base in a first direction. The first engagement feature engages with the second engagement feature and restrains movement of the cassette relative to the base in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction and parallel to the interior bottom surface.
Method Of Detecting And Verifying Installed Circuit Breaker Architecture
A method of detecting or validating the architecture of a circuit breaker unit disposed within a circuit breaker assembly comprising a plurality of the circuit breaker units, the method comprising: tagging each the circuit breaker unit with an identification tag, the identification tag providing architectural information related to the circuit breaker; and reading the identification tag disposed on the circuit breaker, whereby the circuit breaker assembly does not need to be disassembled for detection or validation of the architecture of the circuit breaker.
A circuit interrupter trip apparatus operably connected to an operating mechanism of a circuit interrupter includes a sensor and a switch operably connected and responsive to the sensor. The switch is positioned such that the sensor changes the operating state of the switch in response to detection of a predetermined electrical condition, such as an electrical fault. A controller is operably connected to the switch and is configured to activate the operating mechanism in response to a change in the operating state of the switch.
Jason Harmon - Bristol CT Ranganadha Kumar Erra - Andhra Pradesh, IN Pankaj Shrivastava - Andhra Pradesh, IN Prakash Viswanathan - Andhra Pradesh, IN
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
B65D 4316
US Classification:
220835, 220 402, 292 86, 292 87
Abstract:
A housing for a circuit breaker motor operating mechanism is disclosed. The housing comprises a base having a plurality of walls connected to a floor thereby defining an interior volume; a cover hingedly attached to one wall of the plurality of walls; and a locking device including a first member connected to the base and a second member connected to the cover and engaged to the first member, the locking device positively securing the cover to the base thereby enclosing the interior volume.
Information Display System For Switching Device, Switching Device, And Method
- Schenectady NY, US Simhadri Ramalingeswara Rao GUPTA - Secunderabad, IN Jason Edward HARMON - Plainville CT, US Anurag Arjundas JIVANANI - Plainville CT, US Ashish MISHRA - Plainville CT, US David Adam OUELLETTE - Plainville OH, US Allison Stacey CONNER - New York NY, US Piotr Slawomir WORONKOWICZ - New York NY, US Jung Soo PARK - New York NY, US
International Classification:
H01H 9/16 H01H 3/12
Abstract:
An information display system for a switching device having a handle includes a cover for the switching device and a faceplate. The cover includes an opening sized to allow passage of the handle. The faceplate is configured to carry information about the switching device. The faceplate is rotatable with respect to the cover to change an orientation of the information.
Arc Chute Assembly For An Automatic Transfer Switch System And Methods Of Assembling The Same
An arc chute assembly for use in an automatic transfer switch includes a housing including a pair of opposing sidewalls and a primary deionization plate coupled between the pair of opposing sidewalls. The primary deionization plate includes a tongue portion oriented substantially midway between the opposing sidewalls and extending toward a contact assembly. The tongue portion is configured to facilitate suppressing an electric arc originating from the contact assembly.
