Abstract:

The present invention provides a curable, organic polymeric photochromic composition comprising: a photochromic amount of at least one photochromic material; a polymeric polyol having carbonate groups along its backbone and having a number average molecular weight greater than 5000 g/mole; and a curing agent having reactive functional groups capable of reacting with hydroxyl groups on the polymeric polyol. After curing and after the Photochromic Performance Test the composition demonstrates a Tfade rate of less than 200 seconds. Also provided is a photochromic article comprising a rigid substrate and a photochromic organic polymeric coating applied to a surface of the substrate. The photochromic organic polymeric coating comprises the composition described above.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to photochromic materials that include one or more indeno-fused naphthopyrans that have particular groups at the 7, 11, and 13 positions thereof, and at the position alpha to the oxygen of the pyran ring thereof. With some embodiments, hydrogen or an alkoxy group is bonded to the 7 position, an optionally substituted phenyl is bonded to the 11 position, two alkyl groups are bonded to the 13 position, and two optionally substituted phenyl groups are bonded to the position alpha to the oxygen of the pyran ring of the indeno-fused naphthopyran compound. The 13 position of the indeno-fused naphthopyrans is free of ether groups in which an ether oxygen is bonded to the 13 position, and hydroxyl. The present invention also relates to photochromic articles and compositions that include such indeno-fused naphthopyrans.

A coating composition, a coating layer, and a coating system, and a method for making a and using the same are provided. The coating system comprises a flop index of 2 or greater and comprises a coating layer formed by a coating composition. The coating composition comprises a film-forming resin and a pigment composition. The pigment composition comprises 50% or greater by weight radar transmissive pigment based on the total weight of the pigment composition and no greater than 50% by weight electrically conductive pigment based on the total weight of the pigment composition. The coating system has a radar signal transmission of 70% or greater. Abstract:

The detection and assay of fissionable material is carried out on a container known or suspected to have a material with at least one fissionable isotope. The material is irradiated with neutrons from two or more different neutron sources. The fission rates inducted at each irradiation energy are acquired with at least one neutron detector. A multispectral active neutron interrogation analysis (MANIA) is carried out to compare the detected fission rates of the neutron spectra with calculated fission rates where an iterative algorithm is carried out on a system of linear equations to solve for the isotopic composition of one or more isotopes to determine the presence, identity, and quantities of fissionable isotopes in said container.
