Abstract:
Parallel coding of digital pictures is described. A digital picture is divided into two or more vertical sections. Two or more corresponding Stage encoder units can perform a first stage of entropy coding on the two or more vertical sections on a row-by-row basis. The entropy coding of the vertical sections can be performed in parallel such that each Stage encoder unit performs entropy coding on its respective vertical section and returns a partially coded Stage output to a Stage encoder unit. Each partially coded Stage output includes a representation of data for a corresponding vertical section that has been compressed by a compression factor greater than 1. The Stage encoder unit can generate a final coded bitstream from the partially encoded Stage output as a Stage output.

Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for providing an opaque online marketplace and distribution network for items, tickets, tokens, and other goods or services using a dynamic pricing engine and user-specific market price adjustments, and drawing inventory from multiple sources. Under-sold inventory from an inventory source may be monetized, while protecting the brand of the market entities, and consumers may be allowed to purchase items and tickets at a dynamic market value which, in some cases, may be below face value or a default retail price. Furthermore, a market price may be adjusted by a user-specific price adjustment, on an individualized basis, to manage user satisfaction and provide incentives.
In methods for encoding and decoding digital pictures certain prediction parameters may be omitted from the output on the encoder side or the input on the decoder side. An encoder can identify prediction parameter values that can be omitted by determining whether a decoder emulator can reproduce the prediction parameter values from other information, such as predicted pixel and prediction error values of one or more previously decoded sections from the same or a different picture.

Video stream data is selectively scaled so that sections within regions of interest (ROI) maintain high resolution while areas not within the region of interest are down-scaled to reduce bandwidth cost of transmission. A low compression encoder compresses sections of a video frame corresponding to one or more ROI without motion search or prediction mode decision to generate low-compression section data. The video frame is downscaled and a high compression encoder compresses the resulting downscaled video frame with prediction mode decision to generate high-compression frame data.
Fast Region Of Interest Coding Using Multi-Segment Temporal Resampling
A method, system and computer readable instructions for video encoding comprising, determining one or more region of interest (ROI) parameters for pictures in a picture stream and a temporal down sampling interval. One or more areas outside the ROI in a picture in the picture stream are temporally down sampled according to the interval. The resulting temporally down sampled picture is then encoded and the encoded temporally down-sampled picture is transmitted. Additionally, a picture encoded in this way in an encoded picture stream may be decoded and areas outside an ROI of the picture may be temporally up sampled. The temporally up sampled areas outside the ROI are inserted into the decoded encoded picture stream.

Abstract:
Techniques for enhancing usability and electronic resource efficiency using job relevance are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a plurality of members of the social networking system are identified for which the new job is relevant. The job posting is identified as a top job posting for each of a subset of the plurality of members for which the new job is relevant, the identifying of the job posting as a top job posting including accessing an online data store that includes enhanced relevancy data, the enhanced relevancy data including real-time feedback provided by one or more of the plurality of members with respect to the values of the attributes specified within the job posting. A specialized notification of the top job posting is generated for each of the identified subset of the identified plurality of members.

Gaze tracking data is analyzed to determine one or more regions of interest within an image of a video stream. The video stream data is selectively scaled so that sections within the regions of interest maintain high resolution while areas not within the region of interest are down-scaled to reduce bandwidth cost of transmission. A scheme for reduction of motion sickness by reducing the size of the high resolution area is also claimed.
