Abstract:

Electronic devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for remote and/or automated monitoring of temperature, humidity, or other factors in a building during a remediation project, such as after a flood or mold infestation. These devices comprise sensors devices that can be distributed around a room or building, for transmitting data to a processor such as a laptop computer. Using telephone, cell phone, or internet connections, the processor can transmit compiled data to a website or remote computer, for analysis and use by a project supervisor. Sensor-switch devices also are disclosed for turning fans, dehumidifiers, or other equipment on or off. Using a telephone, cell phone, or internet connnection, a project supervisor at any location can download information, obtain current status information, and turn equipment on or off as needed.

Abstract:

Featured is a method and system for cleaning abrasive sanding and/or planing media, for example sandpaper, wide belt sanding belts, planers, grinding wheels or other abrasive surfaces while the media is either in-situ in the sanding, planing, grinding equipment or when removed. Additionally, the cleaning featured method and system can clean the media while the abrasive media is being used as well as when the abrasive media is not being used. In the cleaning method dry ice (CO, solid carbon dioxide) particles are propelled towards the abrasive surface at a high velocity so the dry ice particles impact on the surface of the abrasive media at a high velocity. Additionally, the dry ice (CO, solid carbon dioxide) particles are propelled as to impact the abrasive surface at varying angles and locations as necessary to effectively clean the abrasive surface. Further, the dry ice particles are propelled towards the abrasive media when it is in motion, for example rotating, so the dry ice particles impact the abrasive media at different locations of the media. The method and system allow the abrasive media to be cleaned while the abrasive media is being used for its' intended purpose. Thereby reducing equipment downtime usually associated with cleaning and/or changing the abrasive media due to becoming dirty and/or worn.

Abstract:

A method for cleaning noxious colonies of mold and other microbes out of buildings is disclosed, using “dry ice blasting”. This method involves pumping a gas stream containing small particles of dry ice (solidified carbon dioxide, or CO) through a high-speed nozzle that can be directed at any surface that needs to be cleaned. This type of equipment previously has been used for cleaning charred surfaces and coating layers of soot and smoke off of wooden and other surfaces, in a building that has suffered a fire, but it has not previusly been used for mold remediation. It is highly effective for cleaning uneven surfaces, such as the surfaces of unfinished lumber, using a controllable a combination of pressure, velocity, and flow rates that can effectively soften, abrade, and blow away any surface layers that do not have the hardness of normal wood.

Abstract:

Blast-cleaning systems are disclosed, which enable a single system to handle different classes of particulate blasting media, such as grit, powder, and dry ice, and to deliver controllable mixtures of different media types during a blasting operation. This “multi-media” system includes a hopper having two chambers or other supply assemblies that are isolated from each other, for holding two different types of blasting media. Both chambers provide their particulates to a metering control device, which supplies a compressor. For example, by combining grit with dry ice, extremely efficient cleaning can be accomplished, with greatly reduced production of solid waste. Tests have shown that combinations of dry ice (at roughly 90%) with a grit or powder can provide far greater cleaning efficiency than either media type by itself.
