On Saturday, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, the granddaughter of deceased Country Music Hall of Fame star Jean Shepard,Icie Hawkins, 18, was murdered. She was stabbed to death in the house of Shepards widow, Benny Birchfield, 79, who was also stabbed multiple times, but not fatally. Travis Sanders,Jean Shepard suffered from Parkinsons disease later in her life, so Icie Hawkins moved in the house to help take care of her grandmother.
