Abstract:

A method, system, and apparatus for remotely provisioning a network element to eliminate a false alarm is provided. A request is received to provision a network element to eliminate a false alarm generated by the network element. In response to the request, a communications connection is established with the network element. Commands are transmitted to the network element instructing the network element to provision one or more features to an âin serviceâ state. The identified features correspond to features supported by the network element for which a false alarm should be reset. The network element is then queried for the identities of one or more active alarms present in the network element following the provisioning of features to an âin serviceâ state. For each alarm present in the network element following provisioning the features to an âin serviceâ state, the features corresponding to each active alarm are provisioned to an âout of serviceâ state.

Abstract:

A method for providing read-only access to network element configuration data is provided. A request is received to access configuration data for a network element. In response to such a request, a communications session is initiated with the network element. Configuration data is then received from the network element. The configuration data is compared to configuration data for the network element previously stored in a database. If the previously-stored configuration is not identical to the received configuration data, the database is updated with the current configuration data for the network element. The configuration data is then transmitted in read-only format as a response to the initial request for network element configuration data.

Abstract:

An apparatus for reconditioning the surface of a workpiece. The frame of the apparatus includes a first portion that is frictionally engaged to the outside diameter of the workpiece and a second portion that rotates relative to the first portion. A cutting tool is mounted to the rotating portion of the frame, and in addition to providing for the alignment of the frame with the workpiece, the present invention provides for the squaring up of the frame with the surface of the workpiece that is to be reconditioned so that the cutting tool will provide a flat, finished surface that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece. Also provided is a mount for the cutting tool that facilitates fast replacement of the cutting tool while still allowing precise positioning of the cutting tool and minimizing any relative movement between the cutting tool and the mount.
