Abstract:

The apparatus, method and system for inspecting a fastener installed in a structure includes the illumination of a fastener and a portion of the structure surrounding the fastener, the detection of the light reflected from the fastener and the portion of the structure surrounding the fastener, the analysis of the reflected light, and the definition of at least one inspection criteria. The structure has a coating that reflects light of a predefined wavelength differently than the fastener. As such, the light that illuminates the fastener and the structure surrounding the fastener has a wavelength within the predefined range. The light reflected from the fastener and the portion of the structure surrounding the fastener is then detected and analyzed to determine an interface between exposed surfaces of the fastener and the coating. Based upon the detected interface, at least one inspection criteria may then be defined.

Abstract:

The disclosed optionally lighted fishing pole has a portable source of light held relative to the pole proximate its handle, with a operable on-off switch. A continuous light-transmitting element is extended axially along the pole body from the handle toward the pole tip. The light source has reflective and lens structures directing light axially into the light-transmitting element proximate the handle for transmission along the length of the element and illumination of the exterior circumferential surface of the element. The illuminated exterior circumferential surface of the lighted light-transmitting element is visible from lateral proximity of the fishing pole, for improved fishing during darkness. The light-transmitting element can be mounted externally of the pole body, or internally of a hollow pole body that is also formed of transparent or translucent material.

Abstract:

An apparatus for fabricating a stack of adhesive plies for attaching a doubler to a surface on a structure includes a digital scanner, configured for scanning the surface and for producing a first set of digital data representing a contour of the surface, and a computer, coupled to the digital scanner, having a processor and system memory. The computer is programmed for mapping a gap between a bonding surface on the doubler and the surface on the structure using the first set of digital data and a second set of digital data representing the bonding surface, and for segmenting the mapped gap into layers corresponding to the adhesive plies.
