Abstract:

An improved rocket engine combustion chamber design wherein a first or precombustion chamber having a first diameter is located intermediate to a propellant injector and a second or main combustion chamber having a second diameter which is larger than the first diameter. The combustion chamber extends radially outwardly from the first diameter to the second diameter suddenly at the intersection between the precombustion chamber and the main combustion chamber. Film cooling is provided by providing a stratified layer of low temperature fluid adjacent to the inner wall of the precombustion chamber and surrounding a primary inner core of high temperature gases. The sudden stepped expansion at the interface between the precombustion chamber and the main combustion chamber provides secondary recirculation mixing of the propellants and will complete combustion between the main hot gas core and the propellant film cooling layer. In an additional aspect, the inner surface of the precombustion chamber may be made of a material which has a high degree of thermal conductivity to minimize temperature gradients.

Abstract:

A chad containment bin includes a chad containment space formed by a pair of opposing longitudinally extending sidewalls connected by a pair of opposing, laterally extending sidewalls. A shredder head assembly is situated above the chad containment bin. A cabinet body supports the shredder head assembly while removeably housing the chad containment bin. A generally vertically oriented support member extends upwardly from a first of the longitudinally extending sidewalls. The support member includes a handle on an outer face for carrying the chad containment bin. A panel is pivotally connected to the chad containment bin for providing access to the chad containment space when the chad containment bin is suspended by the handle over a waste receptacle.

Abstract:

A rocket engine has a combustion chamber, an injector, and an attachment between the combustion chamber and the injector. The attachment includes an annular metallic deposit joined to the chamber wall outer surface, and an annular transition ring structure. The transition ring structure has an annular step collar, and an annular adaptor ring brazed to the annular step collar. The adaptor ring is welded on one end to the injector and on the other end to the metallic deposit.

Abstract:

An article destruction device includes an electric motor driving at least one moving component. An indication panel includes at least three visual indicators situated in sequence. Each visual indicator is associated with a stage of an approaching overload (motor cool down) condition. A first visual indicator lights when the motor or corresponding sensor temperature is below a first threshold, i.e., when the device is first powered on. A second indicator lights when the temperature exceeds the first threshold and is below at least a second threshold, i.e., the temperature is approaching a fault condition. A last visual indicator lights when the temperature exceeds the first and the at least second thresholds, i.e., the fault condition is met. A thermistor on the motor energizes (self-heats) with the motor. A thermostatic switch controls current flow through windings of the motor depending on measured temperatures meeting operating and equilibrium temperature thresholds.

An electronic monitoring method for externally monitoring processes in a computer system is provided in which preexisting computer system generated signals output by a particular process in the computer system are received. Abstract:

An electronic control method for externally controlling processes in the computer system is provided in which electronic data is presented as graphical information to a user on a display device. In addition, electronic data input by the user is received. Processing rules are obtained from user input provided through the input device in response to processing rules displayed to the user on the display device. Operations of the computer system are controlled based on the processing rules with the electronic data processor such that the computer system can be automatically externally and directly controlled with the processing rules by only utilizing preexisting computer system signals received from the computer system and control signals sent to the computer system.
