Abstract:

An echo canceller has an adaptive filter with an input coupled to a digitized audio input producing samples at a first rate. The adaptive filter also produces an estimated digitized audio feedback signal at the first rate based upon a set of tap values. A controller is coupled to the adaptive filter and determines the values of the set of tap values. A shared processor is coupled to the adaptive filter and the controller. The shared processor services tasks of the adaptive filter and the controller as well as other devices. When the adaptive filter has converged upon an unknown echo channel response, the controller determines the set of tap values at a rate lower than the first rate.

Abstract:

A system is disclosed for accurately detecting an alert signal. Improving detector accuracy decreases missed detects and false detects. In one example embodiment the detector monitors received telephone signals for an alert signal such as a CPE alert signal. In such a configuration, the invention processes the received signal prior to monitoring by the detector to remove or reduce unwanted echo, interference and/or other signal portions that may otherwise inhibit accurate detection of alert signals sent from a remote location. In one configuration, the invention performs echo suppression or cancellation on the received signal to eliminate or reduce echo, such as may be introduced by a hybrid.

Abstract:

There are provided methods and systems for automated testing of echo cancellers using natural speech excitations and evaluating an echo canceller by transmitting a first signal to the echo canceller, wherein the first signal includes a first speech signal and a first marker signal, and wherein the first marker signal is transmitted a first period of time after the first speech signal is transmitted; receiving a second signal from the echo canceller, wherein the second signal includes a second speech signal and a second marker signal; aligning the first speech signal and the second speech signal using the first marker signal and the second marker signal; determining a choppiness of the second speech signal, when a non-linear processor of the echo canceller is on; and determining an audible echo, when a non-linear processor of the echo canceller is off.
