A fluid sensor assembly is provided for sensing a fluid property in-line. The assembly includes a body with a port for connecting the body to a fluid line and internal passage connecting the first port to a second port. The assembly also includes a sensor interface portion attached to the body and a fluid sensor that interfaces with the sensor interface portion. The fluid sensor includes a sensing element that communicates with the internal passage via the second port. Two different types of converter boxes (38, 84) provide the required interface for transmitting service brake control signals from the tractor unit (12) of a tractor-trailer combination vehicle to the trailer unit (16) thereof in which the tractor unit (17) and trailer unit (16) are provided with dissimilar braking systems. One type of converter box (38) provides the interface between a tractor (12) equipped with an electropneumatic braking system in which service brake applications are controlled by electrical signals and a conventional trailer (16) in which service brakes are controlled by pneumatic signals. The other type of converter box (84) provides the required interface between a tractor (12) which has service brakes controlled by conventional pneumatic signals and a trailer unit (16) which is provided with and electropneumatic braking system in which service brake applications are controlled by electrical signals.

An electrical connector for connecting the cables interconnecting the tractor and trailer portion of a combination vehicle includes axially offset portions, each of which carries a set of electrical conductors. The conductors in one of the portions provide the standard electrical connections between the portions of the vehicle for tail lights, turn signals, etc. Conductors in the other portion provide the connections for an electropneumatic actuated braking system. The offset portions are designed so that the portion carrying the connections for the tail lights, stop lights, turn signals, etc are compatible with existing connectors so that a portion of the vehicle equipped with an electropneumatic system may be used with another portion of the vehicle which is not equipped with an electropneumatic braking system.
