Abstract:

A pivot mounting apparatus is provided for pivotally mounting to one another the coal nozzle tip and coal nozzle body of a pulverized solid fuel nozzle of a pulverized solid fuel-fired furnace. Abstract:

A riffle distributor assembly for influencing the travel properties of a material feed stream moving between a pulverizer and a furnace is part of a feed path having one duct A having a branch entry A and another branch duct C having a branch entry C both downstream of upstream passage peripheries UPZ defined between adjacent intake vanes through which the feed stream of the material travels in two segregated portions. A motor drive assembly moves the intake vanes relative to the incoming flow reference axis IFA, whereupon intake areas defined between adjacent intake vanes moves relative to the incoming flow reference axis IFA such that the travel properties of the one portion of material in the one branch duct A are different than its travel properties before the movement of intake areas defined between adjacent intake vanes.

A mounting for an oil gun in an associated steam generation boiler which includes a stationary union block having first and second output ports for respective fluid streams; a removable block having first and second input ports dimensioned and configured for registration with the first and second output ports; apparatus for mounting the stationary union block which comprises a collar welded to the end of an associated guide pipe and apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union block and allowing relative pivotal moment between the collar and the stationary union; and apparatus for forcing the removable union block against the stationary union block with the respective ports thereof in registered relationship. Abstract:

A steam generating system includes a nozzle for pulverized coal and air which includes an elongated generally cylindrical body having a nozzle at one axial portion thereof. The apparatus also includes a nozzle tip that is generally sleeve shaped and dimensioned to overlap an axial extremity of the body. The tip is mounted for pivotal movement about the extremity of the body and the nozzle tip includes first and second surfaces dimensioned and configured for receiving therebetween all flow from the body. The apparatus also includes a seat plate that is also generally sleeve shaped and dimensioned and configured to provide sealing between the extremity and the nozzle tip. The seal plate is mounted for pivotal movement about the extremity of the body and is dimensioned and configured to have third and fourth surfaces disposed respectively in closely spaced relationship to the first and second surfaces throughout all possible pivotal positions of the seal plate and the nozzle tip. This closely spaced relationship defines an elongated slat for passage of air. The seal plate includes a stop to limit relative pivotal motion between the nozzle tip and the seal plate.
