Abstract:

A laser via drilling system, and a method of use thereof, is provided. The apparatus uses two or more laser systems to achieve processing parameter flexibility. The output beams from the independently controlled laser systems are combined using a beam splitter that combines the beams into single or multiple processing beams. The operational flexibility of the system can be further enhanced through the use of multiple EO modulators and a polarization sensitive beam splitter.

Abstract:

A method and a computer-readable medium are provided for generating an interface in a personal computer system. The method includes is playing a primary view of a three-dimensional environment from the egocentric perspective of a virtual person in the environment. A glancing function is then performed, which provides animated movement of the virtual persons head to reveal a three-dimensional tool space that is normally hidden from view. In one embodiment, the three-dimensional tool space moves with or is linked to the virtual persons body so that it travels through the environment with the virtual persons body. In other embodiments, the tool space is associated with an object in the three-dimensional environment.

Abstract:

The invention provides a system for quantitative measurement of percent glycated hemoglobin as hemoglobin A1c in whole blood having extended shelf life at room temperature. The system comprising a blood dilution solution and a device adapted for receiving at least a portion of diluted blood solution, for contacting the blood solution with a dry reagent system, for detecting a change in the reagent system and for providing an indication of the analytical result to the user, and the extended shelf life and the elimination of a requirement for refrigeration for storage is achieved by having the blood dilution solution which comprises a first surfactant for hemolysis and a second surfactant for stability. The system of this invention is useful in other analysis kits and systems as well.

A method of preparing a fluid sample for use in a fluid analyte monitor, the method including drawing a fluid sample into a capillary channel in a body having a septum piercing projection; piercing a first septum covering a treatment solution chamber with the septum piercing projection, thereby exposing the fluid sample in the capillary channel to the contents of the treatment solution chamber; mixing the fluid sample with the contents of the treatment solution chamber; and piercing a second septum covering the treatment solution channel such that the mixed fluid and treatment solution chamber contents are received into a fluid analyte meter. Abstract:

Disclosed are embodiments of a system and method for automating the exchange of information between the multiple personal computerized devices of an entity so as to provide context for communications, such as incoming and/or outgoing telephone calls, with other entities. The system and method associate one entity with multiple devices. Communications over a device (e. g. , one of the various types of telephones) are tracked. Then, for a given communication, an identifier (e. g. , a caller ID from an incoming telephone call) is communicated to at least one other device. The other device performs a local and/or internet search for information associated with that particular identifier. The retrieved information is then displayed so as to provide the entity with essentially instantaneous context for the given communication. The system can be implemented using client-server network technology or, alternatively, using point-to-point communication technology.
