Abstract:

A computer security system comprises a motherboard comprising a processor and a memory. The system also comprises a drive device having an assigned identifier and coupled to the motherboard. The system further comprises a basic input/output system (BIOS) executable by the processor and adapted to compare the assigned identifier of the drive device with an identifier stored in the memory and boot the motherboard if the assigned identifier corresponds to the stored identifier.

Abstract:

The computerized system provides a method to inventory articles, to locate lost or stolen articles and to recover a lost or stolen article. The system applies an electronic tag to each article of a multiplicity of articles or only to a valuable article and employs a computer to maintain an inventory of all articles. Use is made of a global positioning sysytem to locate a lost or stolen article as wel as to track movements of the article. A history of the movement of the article may also be plotted on a map. An electronic geographic boundary area may also be placed around an article that can be used to emit a signal indicative of the article leaving the area.

The present invention relates to a novel composition comprising an implant, scaffold or construct bound to a biological or chemical moiety. The bound moiety has the ability to bind to a component of the extracellular matrix of biological tissue, allowing the implant to be bound to the biological tissue in a short period of time after implantation. Abstract:

In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a system for protecting content stored on a storage medium device. The system may comprise: a processor for executing code to access a user password and a recorded serial number; a storage medium device, the storage medium device being operable to return its associated serial number, and the storage medium device providing a device interface that requires the password to access data stored on the storage medium device; and code for booting the system, wherein the code for booting comprises: code for requesting the storage medium device to return its associated serial number; code for comparing the serial number returned by the storage medium device against the recorded serial number; and code for providing the user password to the storage medium device when the code for comparing determines that the serial number returned by the storage medium device matches the recorded serial number.

Abstract:

An embodiment of a secure boot device selection method retrieves a device identifier from an isolated storage medium, selects one of a plurality of devices to boot in response to the device identifier, and boots one of the plurality of devices. Another embodiment of a secure boot device selection system comprises a memory accessible through execution by a processor of a basic input/output system (BIOS) application and an operating system application, and a plurality of boot devices having an assigned device identifier associated with the boot device and stored in the memory.
