Abstract:

A unitary centertube, molded out of a synthetic material and designed for use as part of a fluid filter, includes a tubular body portion arranged with a plurality of annular ribs in alternating sequence with a plurality of annular recessed sections, the tubular body portion defining a plurality of fluid flow apertures and an interior opening. The plurality of fluid flow apertures are arranged in two styles to facilitate the mold design. Included as part of the unitary centertube is a cross-beam section positioned in the interior opening for providing reinforcement to a corresponding filtering element when subjected to a differential pressure.

Abstract:

A priming pump for fluid delivery arranged with a base defining a flow inlet, a flow outlet, and a control valve positioned therebetween. The priming pump includes a housing assembled to the base with an inlet flow valve positioned in an inlet valve compartment and an outlet flow valve positioned in an outlet valve compartment. The valve compartments are in communication with a plunger chamber including an axially movable plunger. A spring-biased control knob is assembled to the plunger and to the control valve for controlling its position between either a direct-flow orientation or a by-pass orientation. With the control valve in the by-pass orientation, upward movement of the control knob draws fluid into the inlet valve compartment and into the plunger chamber. The down stroke of the control knob pushes the fluid out of the plunger chamber.

Abstract:

A “no filter, no run” filtration system that is designed to verify that a filter cartridge is present to safe-guard against damage to fuel injectors, associated fuel components, etc. and engine malfunctions. Fuel flow to the engine is prevented altogether or permitted in an amount insufficient to allow engine operation if a filter cartridge is not installed, and an appropriately designed filter cartridge is required to be used in order to permit sufficient fuel flow for engine operation. In one embodiment, a flow restriction valve is provided that includes a ball.

Abstract:

A filter within a filter cartridge design is described that includes a sealing structure on an endplate of an outer filter element. Generally, the sealing structure includes an annular flange on the endplate that can directly seal against an interior surface of a housing when the filter cartridge is assembled for use. During filtration, the annular flange prevents a working fluid from bypassing the outer filter element. The sealing flange can seal with the housing in a press fit engagement.

Abstract:

A fluid filter for the processing of a circulating fluid includes a unitary, molded plastic shell including an annular sidewall defining an open interior space and an annular entrance opening, the sidewall including an exposed edge that is formed with a plurality of recessed slots, a fluid filter cartridge inserted into the interior space of the shell and including a filtering media element and bonded thereto a molded plastic endplate. The endplate includes a plurality of outwardly-extending projections that cooperatively fit into said plurality of recessed slots for fixing the position of the fluid filter cartridge relative to the shell in terms of the axial depth of the cartridge into the shell and for preventing relative rotation or movement between the cartridge and shell.
