An apparatus for improving the procedure for quantifying the volume of liquid dispensed by a liquid-dispensing mechanism of an analytical instrument. The apparatus of this invention comprises (a) at least one weigh cup; (b) at least one standard mass; (c) at least one transducer assembly to convert a value of weight to an electrical response; and (d) at least one electronic circuit for converting the electrical response to a measurement of volume. This invention provides a method for calibrating readings of the volume of liquid dispensed by a liquid-dispensing mechanism of an analytical instruments so that absolute measurements of the volume of liquid dispensed can be obtained.

Abstract:
Modeled data () regarding a plurality of consumer retail outlets is provided () and used () to identify at least one unleveraged marketing opportunity with respect to increasing sales of at least one consumer commodity via at least one of the plurality of consumer retail outlets. In a preferred approach, these consumer retail outlets correspond to one or more specific limited geographic areas () that serve, in general, to further facilitate a granular understanding and application of the provided data.
Control Apparatus And Method For Electric Heater With External Heat Source
A water heating system, including both a conventional water heater and an external heat source such as a heat pump, is controlled in accordance with the present invention. The water heater includes a water storage tank, an electrically resistive heating element located in the tank, and a tank-mounted thermostat which closes in response to a demand for water heating to allow electric current flow to the heating element and which opens when the demand for water heating has been satisfied, to interrupt the electric current flow to the heating element. The external heat pump includes a water pump for circulating the water between the storage tank and the heat pump, whereby water is heated by the heat pump and returned to the tank. A current sensor is provided for sensing the flow of electric current to the heating element and a temperature sensor is located external to the water storage tank for sensing the temperature of the water entering the heat pump before the water is heated thereby. When the current sensor senses a flow of electric current to the heating element, the current flow is interrupted so as to disable the heating element and the heat pump is enabled to provide the primary source of heating.

Systems and methods are described that provide a dynamic reporting functionality that can identify important information and dynamically present a report about the important information that highlights important findings to the user. The described systems and methods are generally described in the field of diabetes management, but are applicable to other medical reports as well. In one implementation, the dynamic reports are based on available data and devices. For example, useless sections of the report, such as those with no populated data, may be removed, minimized in importance, assigned a lower priority, or the like.
