Abstract:

A localizing apparatus includes a frame, a linear reference marker, and a target marker. The frame includes a first portion fixable to a first anatomical reference point. The linear reference marker is rotatable about the first anatomical reference point to align a second anatomical reference point with the first anatomical reference point. The target marker is rotatable about the first anatomical reference point to establish an angle from the linear reference marker such that the target marker is located in a desired plane.

A method for increasing collateral circulation includes providing a pharmaceutically acceptable synthetic cerebrospinal fluid that has a density different than that of the patient's naturally-occurring cerebrospinal fluid. Abstract:

A device and method for delivering a treatment solution includes a bi-directional catheter comprising at least a first lumen and a second lumen, wherein the first lumen comprises a proximal end having an inflow portal and a distal end having an outflow portal, and the second lumen comprises a side wall having at least one inflow portal allowing for fluid communication from an outer surface of the side wall to an inner surface of the side wall and the second lumen further comprises a proximal end having an outflow portal. The device and method further include a pump having an input channel, a reservoir for receiving and containing the treatment solution, a cooling apparatus for cooling the treatment solution, and an output channel. The outflow portal of the second lumen of the catheter is in fluid communication with the input channel of the pump and the output channel of the pump is in fluid communication with the inflow portal of the first lumen.

Abstract:

A method of removing vascular blockage includes providing a catheter system. comprising an outer catheter, a cutting catheter having a serrated distal end, a bypass catheter, and a guidewire. In the catheter system, the bypass catheter is slidably disposed within the cutting catheter and the outer catheter. The method includes positioning a distal end of the catheter system at a proximal end of an occlusion located within a vessel and moving the bypass catheter through the occlusion so that a medicated treatment solution may be delivered through the bypass catheter to an area of the brain or other tissue served by the vessel blocked by the occlusion. Both during and after the delivery of medicated treatment solution to the blocked part of the vessel with the bypass catheter, the physician may engage the occlusion with the cutting catheter by moving the cutting catheter in a clockwise/counterclockwise or forward/backward direction within the outer catheter, cutting and then removing at least a portion of the occlusion from the vessel.

Abstract:

A data processing machine includes an instruction unit that decodes and organizes a flow of instructions for processing data. In response to certain instructions, the instruction unit generates requests for storage unit resources. In addition, results generated in the instruction unit in response to certain instructions are supplied for storage in the storage unit. The storage unit selects in response to priority logic from completing requests for storage unit resources, including a high speed cache storing data, and a plurality of storage ports for transferring data from the result register to the high speed cache. Each of the storage ports generates requests for access to the high speed cache to transfer the data stored in the respective store ports to the cache. Storage unit priority is determined in part by predicting the fullness of the storage ports.
