Abstract:

Devices, tools and methods for minimally invasive implantation of a dynamic interspinous implant device for distracting between spinous processes and providing dynamic stabilization. One exemplary device includes a main body including a shaft having a longitudinal axis; a first clamping mechanism having first and second jaws configured to clamp a spinous process of a first vertebra, and a second clamping mechanism having third and fourth jaws configured to clamp a spinous process of a second vertebra. The first, second, third and fourth jaws extend transversely from the shaft and at least two of two of the jaws are releasably mounted to the shaft and are mountable to and removable from the shaft by relative movement between the respective jaw and the shaft in a direction normal to a longitudinal axis of the shaft. The shaft has sufficient columnar strength to maintain distraction between the first and second vertebrae via the clamps, while also allowing at least one of the relative movements between the first and second vertebrae selected from the movements including lateral bending, flexion, extension and axial rotation.

Abstract:

A method for providing treatment at or near a cervical region of the spine of a patient is provided. An incision is formed in the skin of a patient above the cervical region. An elongate body is inserted into the patient through the incision, the elongate body having a distal portion, a proximal portion, an outer surface, and an inner surface, the inner surface defining a passage extending through the elongate body. The elongate body is advanced until a distal end thereof resides at or near the cervical region of the spine. The size of the passage in the distal portion is increased relative to the size of the proximal portion.

Abstract:

A method of heating a tissue using pulsed focused ultrasonic waves, and an apparatus for carrying out the method. The method comprises depositing an amount of ultrasound energy sufficient to heat the selected site without adversely damaging other parts of the tissue. The apparatus comprises an ultrasonic source for producing pulsed ultrasonic waves, a lens for focusing the ultrasonic waves, and a controller for controlling wave frequency and transmission parameters of the ultrasonic waves. The method and apparatus can be used to treat spine or other joint disorders associated with lax ligamentous tissues, i.e., soft tissue disruption.

The parallel arms are configured and dimensioned to extend laterally from both sides of the spinous processes when implanted therebetween and to be inserted between the spinous processes laterally from a single side thereof. The parallel arms are variably positionable between a closed configuration, in which the parallel arms are positioned close to or in contact with one another, to facilitate insertion of the parallel arms between the adjacent spinous processes, and an open configuration, in which the parallel arms are separated from one another.

A hub assembly in a disc drive includes a hub rotatable about an axis. The hub has a first axial end and a second axial end. A plurality of hub mounted elements are disposed about the hub, including a support member connected to the second axial end of the hub, a disc, a clamp which frictionally engages the hub, and a spring located axially between the clamp and the support member. The clamp and the support member exert opposing axial forces on the disc to hold the disc for rotation with the hub. The spring includes a first axial surface and a second axial surface opposite the first axial surface. The first and second axial surfaces are non-planar to provide resilience in the axial direction.

Systems and methods for secure updating of allocations to user accounts are provided. In one aspect, a system includes one or more computer readable storage mediums having program instructions embodied therewith, and one or more processors configured to cause the system to identify an external institution associated with the future transfers, and initiate, based on the identified external institution, a proxy instance of a software application of the external institution to determine a set of endpoints and a set of the future transfers to the endpoints. Abstract:

A display assistant device comprises a display, a camera, a speaker, microphones, a processor and memory. The memory stores programs comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, enable a plurality of modes of the display assistant device. The modes include a monitoring mode and an assistant mode. In the monitoring mode, the device is configured to perform a remote monitoring function in which first video captured by the camera is streamed to a remote server system for monitoring uses. The monitoring uses include transmission of the first video to remote client devices authorized to access the first video. In the assistant mode, the device is configured to perform a second plurality of functions that excludes the monitoring function and includes a video communication function in which second video captured by the camera is transmitted to second devices participating in a video communication with a first user of the device.
