Abstract:
A reclosable, flexible package for storing food products, the package including a pair of opposing panels connected via a bottom seal or fold, each having a flange opposite the bottom seal and a pair of end seals between the opposing panels that intersect the bottom seal. A pleat located in one of the panels, containing a tear strip for opening the package. A flange seal located between the flanges where one of the flanges extends beyond the flange seal to form a reclosure flap, removably secured to one panel by an adhesion surface to form a cover over the opening. Alternatively, the flanges are about equally aligned and sealed at the edges, with tear lines spaced from the edge to remove a portion of the flanges and flange seal when torn along a predetermined tear line, creating two flanges, one extending beyond the other to form a reclosure flap.

Abstract:
A packaging material for use in a package having contents including a food item, the packaging material includes a layer including an additive transformable from a first state to a second state in response to an external stimulus and a barrier layer positionable between said layer and the contents of the package. The barrier layer restricts diffusion of said additive to the contents.

Abstract:
A multi-layer film and a film package made from the film are described herein that provide resealing capabilities by utilizing a tacky layer within the multi-layer film. The multi-layer film can include an outer film portion including the embedded tacky layer and an inner film portion. An opening feature formed in the multi-layer film includes a flap configured to be manipulated by a user to create an opening through the multi-layer film. The inner film portion can include a release layer configured specifically to interact with the tacky layer to provide a desired separation peel force and resealing functionalities. The outer film portion can include an outer film layer disposed on an opposite side of the tacky layer from the release layer that is configured to permanently adhere to the tacky layer.

Abstract:
A resealable closure for a container in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which connects the closure to a remaining portion of the container which must be broken in order to gain access to the contents of the container for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form, includes a structure associated with the closure, wherein upon opening the closure for a first time, the structure stretches, increasing a length of the structure until the structure eventually breaks, leaving one or both residual ends of the broken structure rippled or curved upward from the remainder of the container. In one alternative form, the structure is associated with a pull tab of the sealing panel, which comprises the closure, whereby either the structure must be broken first, prior to pulling back the sealing panel, or while pulling back the sealing panel for a first time, the structure breaks, prior to gaining access to the contents therein. Advantageously, the package integrity feature is integrally formed with the closure and a remaining portion of the container. Integrity of the package is indicated by visually observing an intact breakable structure.
Packages Having Separable Sealing Features And Methods Of Manufacturing

A package includes a first pouch and either a second pouch or a cover, where the pouches are configured to contain a product, such as a food product, and attached relative to each other about a hinge. The package includes at least one closure flap. The first and second pouches or first pouch and cover are movable about the hinge from a closed position where access is at least partially blocked by the closure flap toward an open position where the closure flap is separated to allow greater access. Methods of manufacturing such packages are also provided.
An exemplary embodiment of a cold seal package forming device () is provided, which may have a scoring device configured to score a continuous film laminate, the film laminate comprising a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive/PSA () disposed between a first film layer () and a second film layer (); a stripping device configured to strip at least a portion of the second film layer () to expose the PSA (); a forming device configured to form the film laminate into a package () having an interior; a feeding device configured to feed a product into the package interior; a sealing device () configured to seal the product within the package interior via adherence of the exposed PSA () on a portion of a package periphery; and a separating device configured to singulate the package () from a continuous web of the film laminate.

Abstract:
A resealable closure for a container or package in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which breaks and/or produces an audible sound when the resealable closure is opened for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form includes at least one strip or frangible structure that is initially affixed to two portions which comprise the resealable closure so that upon opening the resealable closure for a first time, at least one of the strips breaks. The strips may include a weakened portion such as a narrowing. Integrity of the package is indicated by an intact strip viewable upon opening the resealable closure and conversely, a broken or non-intact strip would indicate that the resealable closure has been previously opened. Package integrity may also be shown by a moveable second panel or moveable die cut tab portions.
Reclosable Flexible Film Packaging Products And Methods Of Manufacture
The present disclosure relates to a reclosable flexible film package with a flexible film having a fold forming a folded edge, at least two opposing free edges, and at least a front panel and a back panel, where the opposing free edges are sealed together to form at least one sealed edge such that front and back panels define an interior space. The flexible film package also may have a score in the flexible film of the front panel forming a flap that defines an opening when the flap is moved upward, toward the folded edge and a label extending uninterrupted from edge to edge, the label being attached on the film by pressure sensitive adhesive, and extending beyond the score on the front panel to reseal the package opening defined by the flap.
