Although Hubble is best known for the spectacular images taken with its cameras, these are complemented by other, equally important instruments in the form of spectrographs. The latter add a whole new dimension, Hubble's senior project scientist Jennifer Wiseman said. "The spectrum taken with the ST

NASA Spots What May Be Plumes Of Water On Jupiter's Moon Europa

Hubble's Decades-Long Look at Mars Reveals Much About the Red Planet (Video)
a new picture of Mars. The image shows a hazy blue rim around the dusty orange sphere. Space.com spoke with Jennifer Wiseman, a NASA Hubble senior scientist, about the benefits of observing Mars with different instruments, and the insights that Hubble has given scientists about our own solar system.
The first images were actually disappointing, said Jennifer Wiseman, NASA Senior Project Scientist. They were blurry, they werent what we expected, and it turns out there was a problem with the way the mirror was produced.
Since then weve had perfect images and perfect data, said Hubble Senior Project Scientist Jennifer Wiseman. And, in fact, all the newer cameras and newer instruments that have been installed on Hubble in the years since it was launched have that corrective optics integrated inside.
Its a very vigorous breeding ground for new stars and it contains some of the galaxys hottest, brightest and most massive stars that we know of, added Hubble project scientist Jennifer Wiseman, with NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.
