Abstract:

A grass striping apparatus for use with a lawn vehicle, e. g. , a lawn mower. The striping apparatus may include a frame assembly operatively coupled to the vehicle, e. g. , to a cutting deck of the vehicle, and a wiper member extending along a rear side of the cutting deck. The wiper member may include an upper edge fixed to the frame assembly, and an unsupported lower edge adjacent a grass surface. The wiper member may be made from a flexible material. The apparatus may also include an adjustment mechanism that permits height adjustment of the wiper member.

Abstract:

A mower has a rotary cutting deck with a discharge opening covered by a discharge chute. A pivotal gate is placed beneath the discharge chute to pivot relative to the discharge opening between a closed position in which the gate blocks the discharge opening and an open position in which the gate opens the discharge opening, thereby providing discharge and non-discharge modes of operation respectively. A pivotal handle can be pivoted between first and second positions to thereby pivot the gate between the open and closed positions thereof. The handle and gate are arranged so that at least some portion of the handle extends in directions relative to the mower that are the same as the directions the gate extends relative to the discharge opening so that an operator can simply position the handle by observation of the handle portion to position the handle portion in an orientation corresponding to a desired orientation of the gate.

Abstract:

A cutting deck assembly incorporating a flexible, resilient blow-out baffle and method for using same. The baffle may attach to the deck assembly such that a first elongate edge of the baffle is at or near a lower edge of a deck sidewall. A second elongate edge of the baffle may be suspended beneath an upper surface of the deck assembly. The baffle may be operable to move between a first configuration, in which the second elongate edge is at a first distance from a ground surface, and a second configuration, in which the second elongate edge is at a second distance from the ground surface, wherein the second distance is less than the first distance.
