A system and methods are provided for physiological monitoring and prediction. The system includes a detecting system and a remote monitoring system. The detecting system includes, (i) an adherent device with a plurality of sensors that provide an indication of at least one physiological event of a patient, the adherent device being coupled to the patient's thorax and (ii) a wireless communication device coupled to the plurality of sensors and configured to transfer patient data directly or indirectly from the plurality of sensors to a remote monitoring system. The remote monitoring system is coupled to the wireless communication device. Logic resources may be provided at the remote monitoring system to determine the physiological event of the patient.

An adherent device to monitor a patient for an extended period comprises a breathable tape. The breathable tape comprises a porous material with an adhesive coating to adhere the breathable tape to a skin of the patient. A buffer manager is generated by executing a script with respect to a buffer architecture template and a configuration file specifying parameters for the buffer such as, for example, number of memory banks, width of memory banks, depth of memory banks, and client bridge FIFO depth. The script converts the buffer architecture template into a hardware description language (HDL) description of a buffer manager having the parameters. Client bridges accumulate requests for memory banks in FIFO that is provided to a buffer manager upon the client bridge being granted arbitration. Accesses of memory banks may be performed one at a time in consecutive clock cycles in a pipelined manner. Client bridges and the buffer manager may operate in different clock domains. The clock frequency of the buffer manager may be increased or decreased according to requests from client devices.

A computer implemented system and method is provided for generating a layout of the cell defining a circuit component, the layout providing a layout pattern for a target process technology. The method comprises obtaining an archetype layout providing a valid layout pattern for the cell having regard to design rules of the target process technology, and receiving an input data file providing a process technology independent schematic of the circuit component for which the cell is to be generated. A schematic sizing operation is then performed on the input data file, having regard to both schematic constraints applicable to the target process technology and layout constraints derived from the archetype layout, in order to generate an output data file providing a process technology dependent schematic of the circuit component. A cell generation operation is then performed using the output data file and layout data determined from the archetype layout in order to generate the layout of the cell. Such an approach enables both the schematic and layout to be co-optimised during generation of the layout of the cell.
