Abstract:
A rapid and robust device and method for the capture and manipulation of single cells and beads in a microfluidic environment using positive dielectrophoresis (pDEP) is provided. The capture device uses a highly localized and non-uniform pDEP electric field gradient to allow for the simultaneous capture and manipulation of single cells and beads in standard cell growth media.
A game in which a single player strikes a tennis ball with a conventional tennis racket so that the ball is driven away from the point in which the player is standing. The tennis ball is attached to a flexible cable that includes a non-extensible section and an elastic resilient section; one end of the cable is connected to an anchorage device stationed adjacent the player. The cable is designed to pull the driven tennis ball back toward the anchorage device. If the ball is properly struck the ball will bounce one time and be in a strike zone a few inches above the flat playing surface before it returns to the anchorage device. The anchor device is a flexible bag having a zippered opening for placement of a weighty granular material into the bag.
The present invention is a toilet paper roll holder that includes a pair of elongate arms, a vertical support, and a base member. Each of the elongate arms has a first surface. The first surface corresponding to each of the elongate arms are curved to have a roll of toilet paper positioned thereon. Each of the elongate arms has a second surface. The second surface corresponding to each of the elongate arms are biased inwardly therein. The second surface corresponding to each of the elongate arms face each other. Each of the elongate arms is secured to the vertical support. The vertical support is positioned between the elongate arms. The vertical support has the elongate arms being spaced apart from each other providing tension to the elongate arms to retain the roll of toilet paper. The base member has a top surface and a peripheral edge. The vertical support is secured to the top surface of the base member. Each of the elongate arms, the vertical support, and the base member are formed from a rigid or a semi-rigid material.
The methods, compositions, and assays described herein are based, in part, on the discovery that CD1a mediates inflammation related to certain conditions such as urushiol exposure, psoriasis and other inflammatory skin diseases. One aspect provided herein relates to a method for treating or preventing an inflammatory skin disease, the method comprising: administering a therapeutically effective amount of an inhibitor of CD 1a to a subject having an inflammatory skin disease, thereby treating or preventing the inflammatory skin diseases.

Abstract:
A smart hook system for a store display including a hook configured to hang smart items having a resistor and a capacitor for display in a store. The hook at least one resistive electrical contact configured to come into electrical circuit contact with the resistor of the smart items hanging on the hook, and at least one capacitive electrical contact configured to come into electrical contact with the capacitor of the smart items that are hanging on hook. The smart hook also includes a processor configured to measure the resistance and capacitance of the smart items that are hanging on hook, and determine a quantity of the smart items hanging on the hook and identity of the smart items hanging on the hook based on the measured resistance and capacitance.

Abstract:
An application installed on a mobile device currently activated for service with a mobile wireless communication network captures information uniquely identifying a currently unsubscribed mobile device. The unique information may be captured from the currently unsubscribed mobile device via any of several short range transfer mechanisms. The application transfers the captured information and other information used to activate the currently unsubscribed mobile device to an activation service of the mobile wireless communication network, and the service activates the currently unsubscribed mobile device. In another example, a self-activation portal system determines an identifier of an owner of an account associated with an identifier provided by a user of a mobile device to be activated for use with a mobile wireless service. The system sends a message to the account owner offering options to accept or decline the activation request.
A system includes a highlighter that is installed in a store to highlight a physical position of an item on display in the store. The system also includes a processor installed in the store to determine a location and identification (ID) of a mobile device, and retrieve a profile of a user of the mobile device based on the ID. The processor controls the highlighter to highlight the item when the location of the mobile device is determined to be within a predetermined distance of the item, and when the item is determined to be of interest to the user of the mobile device based on information obtained in the profile.
A mobile device pass through for signaling messages procedure allows smart devices to participate in and control multimedia communications by providing the ability to control multimedia communications to the smart device by the mobile device. A mobile device and a smart device establish a channel of communications between the mobile device and a web browser executing on the smart device, e.g. when both are connected to the same Wi-Fi access point. When the web browser accesses a web application that utilizes signaling messages to control multimedia content, the web browser will send signaling message requests to the mobile device. The mobile device, in turn, generates and forwards the signaling message. Media content is delivered directly to the smart device without passing through the mobile device or the established channel of communications.
