Abstract:

The present invention is related to the fields of genetic mapping and genetic identity detection, including forensic identification and paternity testing. This invention is more specifically directed to the use of mass spectrometry to detect length variation in DNA nucleotide sequence repeats (including variants of common alleles), such as microsatellites and short tandem repeats, and to DNA sequences provided as primers for the analysis of DNA tandem nucleotide repeat polymorphisms at specific loci on specific chromosomes.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to a method for correlating single nucleotide polymorphisms in the preprotachykinin (NKNA) gene with the efficacy and compatibility of a pharmaceutically active compound administered to a human being. The invention further relates to a method for determining the efficacy and compatibility of a pharmaceutically active compound administered to a human being which method comprises determining at least one single nucleotide polymorphism in the NKNA gene. Said methods are based on determining specific single nucleotide polymorphisms in the NKNA gene and determining the efficacy and compatibility of a pharmaceutically active compound in the human by reference to polymorphism in NKNA. The invention further relates to isolated nucleic acids comprising within their sequence the polymorphisms as defined herein, to nucleic acid primers and oligonucleotide probes capable of hybridizing to such nucleic acids and to a diagnostic kit comprising one or more of such primers and probes for detecting a polymorphism in the NKNA gene, to a pharmaceutical pack comprising NK-1 receptor antagonists and instructions for administration of the drug to human beings tested for the polymorphisms as well as to a computer readable medium with the stored sequence information for the polymorphisms in the NKNA gene.

Abstract:

A vaporizer device includes a cartridge and a vaporizer body. The cartridge includes reservoir configured to hold a vaporizable material. The cartridge further includes a channel extending from the reservoir and having an opening at an end of the channel. The vaporizer body includes a movable block. The vaporizer body further includes a controller configured to actuate the movable block, the actuating of the movable block moving the movable block towards the channel to compress the channel, and the compression of the channel ejects, from the opening, at least a portion of the vaporizable material. The vaporizer body further includes a heating element positioned toward the opening of the channel when the cartridge is coupled with the vaporizer body, the heating element configured to vaporize the portion of the vaporizable material.

Abstract:

A vaporization device includes a cartridge having a reservoir that holds a vaporizable material, a heating element, and a wicking element that can draw the vaporizable material to the heating element to be vaporized. The vaporizer cartridge is configured for coupling to a vaporizer device body and containing a vaporizable material. Various embodiments of the vaporizer cartridge are described that include a bifunctional wick-heater assembly using a porous metal. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.
