Quinoxaline compounds are described as well as methods for the preparation and pharmaceutical compositions of same, which are useful as interleukin-8 (IL-8) receptor antagonists and can be used in the treatment of a chemokine-mediated disease wherein the chemokine binds to an IL-8a (CXCR1) or b (CXCR2) receptor such as a chemokine-mediated disease selected from psoriasis, or atopic distress syndrome, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis, gastric ulcer, septic shock, endotoxic shock, gram-negative sepsis, toxic shock syndrome, stroke, cardiac and renal reperfusion injury, glomerulo-nephritis, or thrombosis, Alzheimers disease, graft versus host reaction, allograft rejections, or allergic diseases.

Disclosed herein is a method for measuring temperature via distributed temperature sensing comprising transmitting light through a fiber optic cable; detecting backscattered light in the fiber optic cable, wherein the backscattered light comprises an anti-Stokes band and a Stokes band; calculating a ratio between an intensity of the anti-Stokes band and an intensity of the Stokes band; and using the calculated ratio to determine a temperature being sensed in the fiber optic cable; wherein the fiber optic cable comprises, from the center to the periphery; a central core having a refractive index that decreases progressively from a center of the central core to an edge of the core, wherein the refractive index follows an alpha profile; wherein a bandwidth-length product of the multimode optical fiber has a value greater than 2000 MHz-km at 1550 nm.

Abstract:

Embodiments described herein may be useful in the detection of analytes. The systems and methods may allow for a relatively simple and rapid way for detecting analytes such as chemical and/or biological analytes and may be useful in numerous applications including sensing, food manufacturing, medical diagnostics, performance materials, dynamic lenses, water monitoring, environmental monitoring, detection of proteins, detection of DNA, among other applications. For example, the systems and methods described herein may be used for determining the presence of a contaminant such as bacteria (e.g., detecting pathogenic bacteria in food and water samples which helps to prevent widespread infection, illness, and even death). Advantageously, the systems and methods described herein may not have the drawbacks in current detection technologies including, for example, relatively high costs, long enrichment steps and analysis times, and/or the need for extensive user training. Another advantageous feature provided by the systems and methods described herein includes fabrication in a relatively large scale. In some embodiments, the systems and methods may be used in conjunction with a detector including handheld detectors incorporated with, for example, smartphones (e.g., for the on-site detection of analytes such as pathogenic bacteria).
