'Orange Is the New Black': 27 season 1 characters ranked
sharp tongue and some great wise cracks every once and a while, like when Alex tried to pretend she didn't want to be at a prison party and Gloria told her, "And yet you decided to cook your noodles right in the middle of it all. Baby, high school is high school." (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix)Even though, as Nicky remarked, her entire world view appears to be based around "West Side Story," Morello had some of the best comedic moments in the season and she delivered gems like, "Don't look so bummed, it'll give you wrinkles." (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix)used Piper's prison stories to get ahead in his career without realizing it was at her expense and that it could have potentially put her in danger. He has a real selfish streak and he watched "Mad Men" without her ... even though he promised he wouldn't! Not cool. (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix)However, her storyline with Bennett is really cute and she caught on quickly to the way things work in prison, even if she still made some pretty terrible decisions. (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix)through to stay out of prison without some sort of support system on the outside. She told her bestie Poussey after going back to jail for violating her parole, "I know how to play it here [in jail]. Where to be and rules to follow. I got a bed ... and I got you." (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix) prison life intertwines with many of the other prisoners including Alex, Moretto and Red. At Litchfield, she has a family of sorts and a few lovers too. The flashback scene where she is comforted by Red while going through withdrawal left us a little misty-eyed. (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix) around her white parents. She also masterfully executed a Shakespearian monologue from "Coriolanus" when she tried to scare a few teenagers straight and we kind of hope the prison will put on an all-female production of "King Lear" with Suzanne in the lead role. (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix)interesting to see where she'll end up when the series is over, but during season 1, she just tried to get a grip on how to survive and refused to give up. Piper can be selfish and, as Larry angrily pointed out, she loves to attract drama. We love that drama, Larry. (Credit: Jill Greenberg for Netflix)talent and chemistry with each other, as well as rough patches many relationships go through. Their performances made us fully believe (and root for) their long relationship and that there's still a lot of love left in it, even if their situation is complicated.
