Vaughns mother, Jill Vaughn, said her son went to the clinic to receive methadone to help kick his Xanax addiction, which he was taking illegally, without a prescription. According to Jill Vaughn, he told clinic staff he was looking to kick a heroin habit.

Its a hollow victory for us. Were still without a son, but maybe some other parents will never be put in this position. That was a goal, Jill Vaughn said. Im hoping to find forgiveness for him.
