Abstract:

A linear friction lock mechanism of the type having a rod axially translatable through a lock housing, at least one locking coil spring axially fixed to the housing and having an inner coil diameter such that the coil spring normally grips the rod against such axial movement, and a lock release mechanism actuatable for unwinding the locking coil spring thereby to free the rod for movement through the housing. This linear lock is improved by providing a backup latch element mounted to the housing and spring loaded towards interlocking engagement with the rod redundantly holds the rod against axial movement through the lock housing independently of the locking coil spring to eliminate creeping of the rod through the spring. Manual and remote cable release mechanisms are optional.

Abstract:

A method of interconnecting a leadless multichip module to a printed wiring board using a solder-free interconnect to form an electronic module. The present invention also contemplates the electronic module produced by the method. The electronic module comprises a printed wiring board having a plurality of interconnect pads, and a leadless multichip module having a base, and a plurality of interconnect pads. The multichip module is disposed in an upside down configuration such that its plurality of interconnect pads face the plurality of interconnect pads of the printed wiring board. A plurality of solder-free interconnects are disposed between the interconnect pads. A nonconductive frame is disposed around the leadless multichip module and is secured to the printed wiring board. The nonconductive frame also secures the multichip module and the plurality of solder-free interconnects to the printed wiring board. This compresses the plurality of solder-free interconnects to cause electrical connection between the interconnect pads.

Abstract:

The high force rebar bending machine comprises a frame which carries a bending die. An arm is pivoted to swing around the bending die with a bending roller thereon. Rebar engaged by the bending roller is bent around the die as the arm swings. A fluid cylinder has its piston connected to a cable. The cable is wrapped around a large drive wheel which, in turn, is connected to the arm so that bending force is multiplied. The entire structure is sufficiently compact and light to be portable for use at a job site.

Abstract:

A portable pneumatic rebar bending device has a base portion, a pivoting portion, and a pneumatic cylinder connecting and operable to pivot the pivoting portion with respect to the base portion. The axis of pivot includes a radiused wheel having a shallow "V" shaped slot about which the radius of curvature of the rebar is formed. The radiused wheel can be, where necessary, removed from the pivoting members where the required bend is so extreme that the device would otherwise be trapped. A pair of handles facilitates manual positioning and carriage. A weak spring acts to reset the pivoting member with respect to the base member once the pneumatically operated cylinder is de-pressured. The weak spring prevents injury on closure, since the presence of a hand or finger is more that adequate to prevent the force of the spring from acting to close the two members. An adjustment is provided to enable a variety of sizes of rebar to be used with the device of the present invention.

Abstract:

The stroke length in a positioner of the type having a piston rod movable through a cylinder can be preset through a continuous range of adjustment. A first detent element provided at the end of the cylinder engages another detent element positionable along the rod to limit stroke length. Spacing between the two detents is continuously adjustable by rotation of a threaded sleeve coaxial with the rod. Once installed in a recliner seat or the like, the device is secure against accidental changes in the stroke setting.
