Abstract:

An integrated access platform includes a first port configured to receive a first signal from a plain old telephone service (POTS) and a second port configured to receive a second signal from an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL). The integrated access platform also includes a controller system configured to process the first signal and the second signal for access with external networks.

Abstract:

A simple means is provided to test the cross connect wiring of a communications system which uses a POTS splitter to separate broadband and narrow band signals. A suitable frequency test signal such as 1 KHz tone is fed at sufficient amplitude to the broadband port of the POTS splitter, so that even after attenuation by both the POTS splitter capacitance and inductance filters, it is detectable by suitably sensitive detectors connected to the narrow band port of the POTS splitter. The test signal may be applied intermittently to enable its detection even in low signal to noise situations.

Abstract:

The system of this invention is a method and apparatus for servicing processor controlled circuit cards that obviates the need for engineers to maintain comprehensive software file indexes and databases. In the system of this invention, the software and firmware requirements of a replacement circuit card are made by referring to one or more other circuit cards within the equipment rack. One or more other circuit cards within the equipment rack that have appropriate software modules are then located. Copies of the required software modules are then loaded from those cards to the replacement circuit card.

Abstract:

Providing a remote with a stand alone capability to connect calls independently. The remote normally connects through a host that provides call connectivity to a remote user. The data is downloaded from the host to the remote needed for basic connectivity. The stand alone capability is triggered upon the detection communication link failure between the remote and the host.
