Abstract:

A device including two modules is provided for transferring data signals from a first transmission medium to a second transmission medium. One module includes a conductive housing having a first end and a second end. An electrical connector is mounted at the first end of the housing and is configured to mate to a corresponding connector associated with the first transmission medium. The housing includes a flexible metallic shielded cable extending from the second end. The remote end of the shielded cable is connected to the second module which is configured to mate to a corresponding connector associated with the second transmission medium. The device is pluggable into two system hosts, simultaneously. The modules are each hot pluggable. The device acts as a serial patch cord between the two system hosts, with a standard form factor module plugged into the system hosts at either end.

Abstract:

The present invention provides for a receptacle printed circuit board assembly having a reduced profile of the entire assembly where the receptacle has a board receiving portion that mounts at a cut-out edge of a printed circuit board so that the majority of the receptacle is mounted within a cut-out area of the printed circuit board recessed below the upper face of the printed circuit board so that the overall profile of the receptacle assembly is reduced. A shield flap or metallic hood is provided that helps to attach the receptacle to the printed circuit board and completely enclose the shielded portion of the receptacle.

Abstract:

A pluggable male terminator for use with a female ribbon cable connector. The terminator is comprised of three basic parts that can snap together. The three members are a shroud having openings in the top, a PC board with pins extending from opposed surfaces, and a cover with recesses therein. The pins are complementary in shape and size to the openings in the shroud and the recesses in the cover. Further, the pins are aligned with the openings in the shroud and the recesses. For assembly, the pins on the PC board are inserted into the recesses in the cover openings in the shroud and the parts are pushed together. The pins extending from the shroud are adapted to be inserted into recesses in the female ribbon cable connector.
