Abstract:

A Cable Access Module is periodically monitored to detect lock-up condition on an upstream channel. Traffic activity on an upstream channel of the CAM is compared to predetermined criteria to determine lock-up. If CMs are detected being coupled to the CAM, a PING message is sent to a group of CMs. If the PING is not acknowledged, a round robin counter is used to cycle through modems sending PINGs thereto. If no PINGs are acknowledged, the CAM is deemed satisfactory if upstream bytes over the upstream channel are detected. If not, an escalating maintenance subroutine implements corrective action of increasing magnitude during based on a recovery count variable that increments with each successive pass before returning to the monitor period parent routine. If CMs were detected as coupled to the CAM, but some data has been passed over the upstream channel being evaluated, the escalating maintenance subroutine is invoked.

Abstract:

There is disclosed an improved pile point for foundation piles such as the H-beam pile. The point provides an improved biting edge which eliminates skidding and slipping on inclined rock stratum or when the pile is used as a batter pile. The point includes a web and a pair of flanges positioned at the ends of the web and perpendicular thereto, the flanges including, typically, angled side portions to which are fixedly secured teeth-like protrusions. The latter provide a biting edge which grab hold of the supporting stratum, even when it is at a sharply inclined angle, to eliminate slipping and skidding on such surfaces. Such teeth-like protrusions are provided on a flattened portion of the web and flange affording additional biting edges. The latter protrusions can be arranged such that the point can provide improved biting regardless of its orientation relative to the rock stratum.

Abstract:

A pile joiner is disclosed for connecting together the ends of concrete piles which joiner includes a socket member and a mating member one of which is on the end of one pile and the other is on the end of the pile to be connected therewith. Each of these two members has a base plate with a central hole therethrough and a tubular element secured to each base plate and extending at right angles thereto. One tubular element is a socket element and the other is a mating element which is received within the socket element. The socket element and the mating element have at least a first sleeve means which includes a sleeve hole or holes through a wall or walls of each element and in alignment when the members are assembled together, an outer sleeve for each sleeve hole of the socket element extending outwardly and an inner sleeve for the sleeve hole or holes of the mating element extending inwardly or between sleeve holes in opposite walls thereof. When the two members are assembled together with their base plates in contact, the first sleeve means of each member or element are in alignment and receive a lock bar to retain the two members and their piles together against separation. Preferably the tubular socket element and the tubular mating element have a second sleeve means similar to the first which are in alignment when the two members are assembled together and preferably angularly located with respect to the first sleeve means.

Abstract:

A digital controller for a converter comprises a memory for storing digital representations of the switching patterns for operating the converter to produce a predetermined segment of each one of a plurality of waveforms, respectively, the memory being operable for repetitively outputting at least a selected one, or concurrently one per phase, of the switching patterns, the waveforms being divided into equal angled zones, a respective predetermined segment when oriented in phase and made of appropriate polarity, substantially approximating the portion of its associated waveform within any of the zones of this waveform; and a decoder receptive of the switching patterns from the memory, for selectively gating the digital signals thereof onto a plurality of control lines, in an iterative manner, for operating the converter to produce a desired waveform or polyphase related waveforms, with the segments of each zone thereof properly oriented in phase and polarity.
