  • US Classification:
    524423, 10628732, 524543, 523122
  • Abstract:
A coating for preparing a floor underlayment to receive an adhesive includes a water-soluble, latex polymer, a defoamer and a dual-function surface enhancing agent. The surface enhancing agent includes a set accelerator that also functions to cross link the adhesive, hardening the surface of the underlayment using at least two mechanisms. One embodiment of the invention is a dry mixture that forms a coating when added to water. The dry mixture includes from about 10% to about 50% of the redispersible polymer by weight based on the mixture, from about 50% to about 90% of the surface enhancing agent and from about 0. 15% to about 0. 25% of the defoamer by weight based on the mixture. Other embodiments describe a liquid coating formed by adding from about 1 to about 8 pails water to 1 part of the dry mixture on a volumc basisby volume based on the mixture.

    E04F 15/10
  • US Classification:
    52450, 52480, 52145, 522365, 5274505
  • Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sound rated floor system for inhibiting sound transmission between floors. The system includes a corrugated steel deck; a first layer of cementitious material or board or sheet applied over the corrugated steel deck; a sound insulation mat or board applied over the first layer; a second layer of cementitious material applied over the sound insulation mat or board. The floor system has an IIC rating of at least 25 and the corrugated steel deck provides at least 50 percent of the ultimate load carrying capacity under static and impact loading of the floor system with a floor deflection of at most 1/360 of the floor span.
  • Cut Pile Fabric With Fused Carrier And Method Of Making Same

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43894437, Jun 21, 1983
  • Filed:
    Dec 10, 1981
  • Appl. No.:
    6/329649
  • Inventors:
Reese R. Thomas - Libertyville IL
John W. Ellicson - McHenry IL
    Ronald Somerville - Gurnee IL
  • Assignee:
    Ozite Corporation - Libertyville IL
  • International Classification:
    B32B 302
    B32B 3300
  • US Classification:
    428 92
  • Abstract:
A novel cut pile fabric (210) and a method of making same is disclosed. The cut pile fabric (210) includes a needled non-woven batt (14) of staple fibers (12) that has an integral carrier member (74) formed by fusing a face surface (22) of the needled batt. A texturized surface is formed on the batt (14) using a texturized needle loom (17) which punches through the batt (14) from the one surface (20) (called the back surface) of the batt so that texturized loops (76) project from the carrier member (74). The non-texturized back surface (20) of the batt (14) has a backing (24) applied as by latexing, fusing, or the like, with the texturized loops (76) being tigered by a tigering roll (28) to break, fracture or cut a high percentage of the loops (76). The tigered pile is polished by a polishing roll (34) to remove the crimps in the fibers and to orient the fibers in a direction transverse to the plane of the batt (14) prior to being sheared in a shear (36). A denser, plusher, lighter weight cut pile fabric is produced having increased stability and strength.

    6/329540
  • Inventors:
Robert C. Pickens - Gurnee IL
Reese R. Thomas - Libertyville IL

  • US Classification:
    428 85
  • Abstract:
A novel cut pile fabric (110) and a method of making same is disclosed. The cut pile fabric (110) includes a needled non-woven batt (14) of staple fibers (12) that has a carrier member (60) which may be a separate sheet of material carried by a face surface (22) of the batt. A texturized surface is formed using a texturizing needle loom (17) which punches through the batt (14) from the one surface (20) (called the back surface) of the batt (14) so that texturized loops (70) project from the carrier (60) on the other face surface (22) of the batt. The one non-texturized back surface (20) of the batt (14) has a backing (24) applied thereto as by latexing, fusing, or the like, with the texturized loops (70) being tigered to break, fracture or cut a high percentage of the loops (70). The tigered pile is polished by a polishing roll (34) to remove the crimps in the fibers and to orient the fibers in a direction substantially perpendicular to the batt prior to being sheared in a shear (36). A denser, plusher cut pile fabric is produced having increased stability and strength.
