Abstract:

System and method for filtering and sorting data. The system includes data management system for displaying a data table having a plurality of rows and columns of data cells. Each of the columns in the data table has an associated filter cell whereby the user may input filter criteria. In response to receiving the filter criteria in the filter cells, a data management system filters and sorts each of the data cells in the data table. In one embodiment of the invention, the data management system records the order in which the user inputs the filter criteria and generates a sorting priority list that defines a sorting priority for the data cells. The data management system sorts the data cells using the sorting priority list. Furthermore, in one embodiment of the invention, the data management system displays the data cells that satisfy the filter criteria contiguously and interleaved between those data cells that do not satisfy the filter criteria.

Abstract:

A system for knowledge representation in a computer that can enable unrestricted natural language communication with a computer, comprising a database configured to store at least one table, the table configured to store associations between concepts in a text string and associated concept identifiers; and a builder interfaced with the database, the builder configured to construct a table that represents knowledge defined by a text string, the text string comprising (n) operands and (n−1) operators, by performing a process comprising the following steps: combining concepts in the text string into first order sub-concepts according to precedence defined by the operators, combining the first order sub-concepts into higher order concepts according to the precedence defined by the operators, repeating the steps until the higher order sub-concepts join to form a concept that represents the entire text string, and storing the concept, first order sub-concepts, and higher order sub-concepts in the database.

Abstract:

Magnets and magnetic particle-labeled reagents are used to capture and/or release magnetic particle-tagged entities for immunohematology diagnostic testing purposes, especially tests performed in blood banking. The magnetic tagged entities may be tagged antibodies, tagged blood cells, tagged universal binding partners, especially tagged lectins and tagged Coombs reagent, and other binding agents such as biotin-avidin, Protein A or G, ligands and their receptors and the like. Separation of unbound material from bound material is effected through the use of one or both the magnetic field effect on the magnetic labeled reactants and the density gradients of layers of an assay construct. Constructs such as chromatographic strip lateral flow format, and liquid phase reactions in suitable vessels with end point determinations that do not require centrifugation to detect reacted entities. Readable labels such as enzymes, fluorophors, chemiluminescent materials, radioactive isotopes, and other labels may be attached to Coombs reagent to provide a readable product of the Coombs reagent with any antibody participating in the assay.

Abstract:

Methods for separating, in a continuous, multizone fluid medium, cells, particles, or other molecules of interest (MOI) from associated or contaminating unwanted materials not of interest (MNOI). The invention involves forced movement of MOI into certain zones having properties which deter the entry of unwanted materials. Differential movement of MOI and MNOI occurs by active counterforces that move MNOI but not MOI. MOI are tagged with magnetic particles and moved with a magnetic field through a fluid, or zones, of higher specific gravity that prevents, by flotation counterforce, unwanted less dense materials from entering. Surfaces specifically coated with reactants are reactive with the MOI in the tagged magnetic particle complex and of buoyant or other forces are used to remove any unbound material from the surface before reading. Readable labels, in addition to the magnetic particle tagged complex itself, such as enzymes, fluorophors, chemiluminescent materials, radioactive isotopes, chromogenic and fluorogenic substrates and other labels may be used. In most embodiments, materials of interest are delivered to a special final zone for reading or harvesting. The invention applies to many assays, diagnostic tests, separative procedures and chemical syntheses.
