Abstract:

A method for cleaning a pipline by providing a filter or a number of filters adapted to reside in the pig launcher of the pipeline. The filters can be used to remove debris and impurities from the fluid flowing in the pipeline during a pigging operation. Alternatively, the filters may be retained in the pig launcher for extended periods of time.

Abstract:

The invention features a filtration segment having a top seal, a bottom seal and a primary filter core and the method of filtering with the design of the filtration segment. The primary filter core is operatively coupled to at least one opening which is located either on the top seal or on the bottom seal. The filtration segment also includes one or more interior filters surrounding the primary filter core. Each interior filter includes a filter material surrounding a secondary core which is operatively coupled to at least one opening which is located either on the top seal or on the bottom seal. A filter including a first flow path having a plurality of interconnected channels and a second flow path having a plurality of interconnected channels. The channels of the first and second flow paths are alternatingly configured in a substantially concentric pattern. A filter media is interposed between the channels of the first and second flow paths. Abstract:

An insulative threaded connection is provided for metal tubulars to be placed in wells or for other metal pipe. The connection contains a coating of plastic having a selected thickness which is applied to the surface of the threads of a tubular to be mated with another joint of tubular. The plastic contains particles at a selected loading such that the particles support load between the mated threaded joints. Metal is removed from the mating threads, the thickness of the metal removed being about the same as the thickness of the plastic coating. The coating may be applied to the pin end or the box end of connections. The box end may be a coupling or an integral threaded area. The insulative threaded connection is used in tubulars for improved transmission of electromagnetic signals to or from wells.

Abstract:

Method and apparatus are provided for treating and removing particulate matter from fluid circulatable into, through and out of an industrial operation, and for cleaning a disposable cartridge filter used therein. In treatment of fluid, the fluid is circulated in a flow path and is introduced into a filter vessel having a disposable cartridge filter. The fluid flows through the cartridge filter at a rate of flow insufficient to produce a buildup of a substantially non-porous solids filter cake around the exterior of the cartridge filter. The clean fluid is circulated to the industrial operation. The cleaning method and apparatus includes a storage vessel in selective fluid communication with the interior of the first vessel such that clean fluid may be flowed from the storage vessel into the interior of the cartridge filter then through and thereafter exterior of the cartridge filter to effectively remove the particulate matter deposited on or around the exterior of the cartridge filter.

Abstract:

Method and apparatus are provided for treating and removing particulate matter from fluid or treating and removing fluid from a recoverable particulate matter from fluid circulating into, through and out of an industrial operation, and for washing a disposable cartridge filter used therein. The influent fluid is maintained at a flow rate such that the differential pressure across the cartridge filter is no greater than 10 psi to prevent the buildup of non-porous filter cake. A pressure detecting mechanism and method is also provided to detect the amount of deposited particulate matter inside the cartridge filter, so that an operator can determine whether the cartridge filter should be taken out to remove or recycle the deposited particulate matter.
