Abstract:

A system and method for recovery of hydrocarbon gas and liquids from a sub-sea environment utilizing a sub-sea membrane separation system. The system includes a production string located in a sub-sea wellbore for removing hydrocarbons and contaminants from a sub-sea formation. At least one membrane separator for separating contaminants from hydrocarbons removed from the sub-sea formation is located underwater between the production string and a hydrocarbon collection tank such that a predetermined temperature of the hydrocarbons is obtained by the location of the membrane. In another embodiment, a tube is connected to a sub-sea production string for removing hydrocarbons and contaminants from a sub-sea wellbore. At least one membrane separator for separating contaminants from hydrocarbons in the tube is positioned between the production string and a hydrocarbon collection tank wherein the temperature of the hydrocarbons and contaminants is controlled by the location of the membrane.

Abstract:

A method for cleaning a pipline by providing a filter or a number of filters adapted to reside in the pig launcher of the pipeline. The filters can be used to remove debris and impurities from the fluid flowing in the pipeline during a pigging operation. Alternatively, the filters may be retained in the pig launcher for extended periods of time.

Abstract:

A separation string includes an outer pre-drilled liner and an inner assembly disposed within the outer pre-drilled liner. The inner assembly includes a shear-out member and a filter assembly for separating hydrocarbons from contaminants. A swivel slack joint is connected to an upper end of the inner assembly to facilitate mounting of a top sub to the inner assembly and to the outer pre-drilled liner without producing rotation of the inner assembly. The swivel slack joint includes an outer sleeve connected to the inner assembly, and a tube connected to the top sub. The tube is freely rotatable and vertically slidable relative to the sleeve. The shear-out member is designed to shear at a load less than a load which would cause other components of the inner assembly to shear, and to present, upon shearing, a portion configured to be grasped by a retrieval tool.

Abstract:

The invention features a filtration segment having a top seal, a bottom seal and a primary filter core and the method of filtering with the design of the filtration segment. The primary filter core is operatively coupled to at least one opening which is located either on the top seal or on the bottom seal. Abstract:

A filter including a first flow path having a plurality of interconnected channels and a second flow path having a plurality of interconnected channels. The channels of the first and second flow paths are alternatingly configured in a substantially concentric pattern. A filter media is interposed between the channels of the first and second flow paths. A method of filtering a fluid including the steps of flowing the fluid along an inflow path having a fluid permeable core member in fluid communication with a plurality of inflow channels via an inflow conduit extending radially outward from the core member, passing the fluid through a filtration media, and collecting the fluid within an outflow path having a plurality of outflow channels in fluid communication with an outflow conduit extending radially inward toward the core member. The inflow and outflow channels are alternatingly configured in a substantially concentric pattern and have the filtration media disposed therebetween.
