Abstract:

A dual in-line memory module (DIMM) and a digital flash card are disclosed including an internal, built-in RFID tag in which identification and product information is contained. The RFID tag has an RF integrated circuit chip and antenna traces spreading outwardly therefrom to permit access to the information contained by the RF chip. In the case of a DIMM, the RF integrated circuit chip and its antenna traces are located on top of or between the layers of a multi-layer laminated printed wiring board substrate. In the case of a digital flash card, the RF integrated circuit chip and its antenna traces are preferably located on top of a multi-layer printed wiring board substrate and then encapsulated within a molded cover. In the alternative, the RF chip and its antenna traces are attached to the inside of a cover that extends over and is spaced above the printed wiring board substrate.

Abstract:

A mechanism for extending and retracting the electrical connector in a flash memory thumb drive is disclosed. The flash memory and USB connector are disposed on a printed circuit board. The board is slidably disposed within a housing so that the connector can be extended beyond and retracted within the housing. An arm on a pivot can be rotated in one direction so that another lever extends the board, and rotated in the opposite direction to retract it.

A thumb drive with a miniaturized memory storage assembly package that employs an extended chassis structure to support the miniaturized memory device within an ergonomically designed casing that is also simple to manufacture. The miniaturized memory storage assembly has a flexible latch projection extending from its side that mates with a complimentary latch aperture in the side of the connector housing. Downwardly projecting tongues in the top surface of the connector housing also prevent movement of the assembly within the housing. The elongated platform chassis extending rearwardly from the USB connector housing snaps in place in an ergonomically designed thumb drive case.
