Abstract:

Method for fabricating an acoustical resonator on a substrate having a top surface. First, a depression in said top surface is generated. Next, the depression is filled with a sacrificial material. The filled depression has an upper surface level with said top surface of said substrate. Next, a first electrode is deposited on said upper surface. Then, a layer of piezoelectric material is deposited on said first electrode. A second electrode is deposited on the layer of piezoelectric material using a mass load lift-off process.

Abstract:

A system, a method and computer-readable media for supporting multiple security tiers in a network. A system is provided that includes an access terminal. The access terminal includes multiple virtual machines, which are each associated with a different security profile. The system further includes an access network that validates the virtual machines. The access network also assigns security procedures for use with the various virtual machines by referencing their associated security profiles. The system further includes a core network. The core network also enforces the various security profiles, and references the profiles in the selection of services used in the handling of communications from the virtual machines.

A centralized security management system (CSMS) is provided to monitor a network to detect and mitigate attacks in or to the network. The CSMS includes a variety of devices located throughout the network to collect and synthesize data collected or obtained from devices operating in the network. The collected data is analyzed using behavioral engines or other software algorithms to develop trends for a normal and abnormal operating condition. The abnormal operating conditions are analyzed further to determine attacks to the devices or the network. Based on the attacks, a mitigation scheme is implemented to remove or reduce the attacks.

Abstract:

An acoustic resonator includes a ferromagnetic compensator which at least partially offsets temperature-induced effects introduced by an electrode-piezoelectric stack. The compensator has a positive temperature coefficient of frequency, while the stack has a negative temperature coefficient of frequency. By properly selecting the thickness of the compensator, temperature-induced effects on resonance may be neutralized. Alternatively, the thickness can be selected to provide a target positive or negative composite temperature coefficient of frequency. In the preferred embodiment, the compensator is formed of a nickel-iron alloy, with the most preferred embodiment being one in which the alloy is approximately 35% nickel and approximately 65% iron. In order to prevent undue electromagnetic losses in the ferromagnetic compensator, a metallic flashing layer may be added to at least partially enclose the compensator.

Abstract:

A bulk acoustic resonator having a high quality factor is formed on a substrate having a depression formed in a top surface of the substrate. The resonator includes a first electrode, a piezoelectric material and a second electrode. The first electrode is disposed on the top surface of the substrate and extends beyond the edges of the depression by a first distance to define a first region therebetween. The piezoelectric material is disposed on the top surface of the substrate and over the first electrode, and the second electrode is disposed on the piezoelectric material. The second electrode includes a portion that is located above the depression. The portion of the second electrode that is located over the depression has at least one edge that is offset from a corresponding edge of the depression by a second distance to define a second region therebetween. The first and second regions have different impedances, as a result of the different materials located in the two regions. In addition, the first and second distances are approximately equal to a quarter-wavelength of a sound wave travelling laterally across the respective region, such that reflections off of the edges of the regions constructively interfere to maximize the reflectivity of the resonator.
