Abstract:

A monomolecular rectifying wire is provided that includes a molecular conducting wire that has been modified to embed a rectifying diode integrally therein. The modified conducting wire includes an electron donating section, an electron accepting section, and an insulating group separating the electron donating and accepting sections. Monomolecular logical gates and more complex logic structures that operate by the conduction of electrical currents are constructed by combinations of molecular rectifying wires, molecular conducting wires, and molecular resistive wires to form a single molecule that electrically exhibits a desired Boolean logic function.

A system and method for booking and expensing travel products and services utilizing multiple data sources and presenting information pulled from the multiple data sources in one user-friendly format. The following features are included: graphical city selection; policy enforcement; request and approval queues; in-browser agent support; request prioritization; email confirmation and integration; data incorporation into expense reports; and expense report audits. For example, an employee books a ticket, has the booking approved by a manager if needed, receives email confirmation and integrates the booking information into the employee's calendar. The employee also submits, for example, the booking information into an expense report, which can be audited by an employer.

An avatar representing a user in a communications session may be used to send to another user an out-of-band communication that conveys information independent of information conveyed directly in the text message sent. The out-of-band information may be communicated using a change in the avatar appearance or avatar animation as a communication conduit. By way of example, an out-of-band communication may include information about the sender's setting, environment, activity or mood, which is not explicitly communicated and part of a text message exchanged by a sender and a recipient.
