A bacterial fluid filter includes a filter element supported by a backing member. The filter element and backing member are sealed, e. g. , with one or more o-ring seals, in a housing to provide a filter assembly capable of filtering fluid under relatively high pressure. In one embodiment, a filter element, backing member, and seal are disposed in a removable and disposable housing that is sized to fit within a filter housing.

Abstract:

A method, apparatus, article of manufacture, and a memory structure for selecting nodes while configuring a parallel processing system is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of multicasting a request from a coordinator node to the non-coordinator node to transmit a list of nodes reachable by the non-coordinator node; receiving the list of nodes reachable by the non-coordinator node in the coordinator node; generating a global view of the nodes reachable by the non-coordinator node; generating a node list having member nodes belonging to the configured parallel processing system according to a first criteria; and transmitting the parallel processing node list to the member nodes. The apparatus comprises a means for performing the steps described above, and the article of manufacture comprises a program storage device tangibly embodying computer instructions for performing the above method steps.

Abstract:

A method, apparatus, article of manufacture, and a memory stricture for synchronizing nodes in configuring a massively parallel processing system is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of receiving a registration request from each of the non-coordinator nodes in the coordinator node and, after a registration request has been received from all of the non-coordinator nodes, sending a wakeup message from the coordinator node to each of the non-coordinator nodes to wake the non-coordinator nodes from a sleep state. In another embodiment of the invention, the method comprises the steps of transmitting a registration request from a non-coordinator node to a coordinator node; commanding the non-coordinator node to enter a sleep state; receiving a multicast wakeup message from the coordinator node in the non-coordinator node after a registration request is received from all of the non-coordinator nodes in the coordinator node; and waking the non-coordinator node in response to the wakeup message. The apparatus comprises a means for performing the steps described above, and the article of manufacture comprises a program storage device tangibly embodying computer instructions for performing the above method steps.

The method comprises the steps of: multicasting a best available node list and a best desired node list from each node to each node; receiving the best available node list and the best desired node list from each node in each node; and selecting the coordinator node as the node originating a best available node list that includes every node in the desired node list. If no node is identified as originating a best available node list that includes every node in the desired list, the node originating a best available node list that includes the greatest number of nodes in the desired node list is selected as the coordinator node.

Abstract:

A method for executing database transactions is disclosed. A plurality of interconnected nodes are each defined in terms of processor and storage resources of a parallel computing system. A first set of virtual processors is mapped across a first subset of the nodes to create a first map with at least one virtual processor being mapped to each node in the first subset. A second set of virtual processors is mapped across a second subset of the nodes to create a second map with at least one virtual processor being mapped to each node in the second subset. The first map is stored as a first configuration and the second map is stored as a second configuration. At least one transaction is executed using the first set of virtual processors and simultaneously at least one transaction is executed using the second set of virtual processors.

Abstract:

A circuit for extending the frequency range of a digitally generated FM signal (f). A digital frequency generator (1) generates a precise FM waveform at a frequency up to about 50 MHz. Coupled to the FM signal (f) is a phase lock loop (53, 55, 57) comprising a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) (57) whose output frequency can be much higher than the frequency of the FM signal (f). In a first embodiment, a crystal oscillator (61), mixer (59), and low pass filter (63) are used to bring the output (f') of the VCO (57) down into the range of the digital frequency generator (1). In a second embodiment, an analog frequency divider (73) is used to bring the output (f') of the VCO (57) into the range of the digital frequency generator (1). In a third embodiment, the single sideband (SSB) generator (37) from the digital frequency generator (1) and a counter (66) are used in a partly analog, partly digital, negative feedback loop.
