Abstract:

A system for dispensing and mixing metered amounts of first and second liquid components of a soft drink. The system comprises a mixing chamber connected by separate feed conduits to pressurized sources of the first and second liquid components. First normally closed valves are located in and demarcate the feed conduits into upstream and downstream sections. The first valves are opened automatically in response to pressure above a threshold level in their respective upstream conduit sections, and are operative when open to deliver a constant flow of liquid through their respective downstream conduit sections to the mixing chamber. Second normally closed valves are located in the upstream conduit sections. The second valves are opened in response to a command signal, and each second valve automatically closes in response to a drop in pressure below the threshold level in the upstream conduit section of the other second valve.

Abstract:

Apparatus for delivering a non-carbonated beverage mixture comprises a manifold having a mixing chamber. A first inlet orifice is in communication with and is sized to admit a metered flow of a first liquid into the mixing chamber. A second inlet orifice is in communication with and is sized to admit a metered flow of a second liquid into the mixing chamber. The first and second liquids are combined into a mixture in the mixing chamber. An outlet communicates with the mixing chamber. The mixture exits the manifold through the outlet. A first constant flow valve is in communication with the first inlet orifice and is configured to provide a constant flow of the first liquid to the first inlet. A second constant flow valve is in communication with the second inlet orifice and is configured to provide a constant flow of the second liquid to the second inlet. A dispensing mechanism is in communication with the outlet.

A dual valve assembly includes two regulating valves. Each valve includes an outer housing comprised of a cap joined to a base. The housing is internally subdivided by a barrier wall into a head section and a base section, the latter being further subdivided by a modulating assembly into a fluid chamber and a spring chamber. An inlet and a 90 outlet in the cap communicate with the fluid chamber. Fluid at a variable pressure is admitted into the fluid chamber via the inlet, with the modulating assembly serving to maintain the fluid exiting the fluid chamber via the outlet at a substantially constant pressure. A smaller one of the valves has its base nested within the spring chamber of the other larger valve.

Abstract:

A constant flow regulating valve of the type described in U. S. Pat. Nos. 6,026,850 and 6,209,578 includes a closure mechanism configured and arranged to override the modulating mode of the valve and to close the valve at fluid inlet pressures both below and above the valve's threshold level. The closure mechanism may be selectively deactivated to thereby allow the valve to assume its normal pressure responsive regulating functions. Embodiments of the regulating valve incorporate pressure relief devices and vent seals, with configurations suitable for incorporation into the trigger assemblies of portable sprayers.

Abstract:

A dispensing head incorporates multiple constant flow valves for controlling the flow of multiple liquids, e. g. , syrup and carbonated water fed to a dispensing nozzle. The valves are normally closed and are opened by inlet pressures above selected threshold levels. Once open, the valves maintain the liquid flows at substantially constant flow rates and pressures, irrespective of variations of liquid input pressures and viscosities. A closure mechanism serves to close the valves at inlet pressures both above and below the threshold levels. The closure mechanism may be deactivated to simultaneously allow the valves to assume their modulating functions at inlet pressures above the threshold levels.
