Abstract:
A high energy photon source. A pair of plasma pinch electrodes are located in a vacuum chamber. The chamber contains a working gas which includes a noble buffer gas and an active gas chosen to provide a desired spectral line. A pulse power source provides electrical pulses at repetition rates of 1000 Hz or greater and at voltages high enough to create electrical discharges between the electrodes to produce very high temperature, high density plasma pinches in the working gas providing radiation at the spectral line of the source or active gas. A fourth generation unit is described which produces 20 mJ, 13. 5 nm pulses into 2 steradians at repetition rates of 2000 Hz with xenon as the active gas. This unit includes a pulse power system having a resonant charger charging a charging capacitor bank, and a magnetic compression circuit comprising a pulse transformer for generating the high voltage electrical pulses at repetition rates of 2000 Hz or greater.

Gas flows in the vacuum chamber are controlled to assure desired concentration of active gas in the discharge region and to minimize active gas concentration in the beam path downstream of the pinch region.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus permit handling of unwanted calls from callers such as telemarketers, when caller identification is provided. In one embodiment, the called party adds the caller identification information for the telemarketer to a personal list after receiving the unwanted call. Subsequent calls from the telemarketer are intercepted. In a second embodiment, the called party identifies the telemarketer by detecting the caller identification information before answering the call. By providing a screen listing indication, the caller identification information is added to the called partys personal list before the call is completed, permitting the call to be intercepted and while future calls from the telemarketer to be intercepted.

Abstract:
A method and communication device (102) provide multimode communication with multiple autonomous communication systems including a first communication system (104) and a second communication system (106). Resources are dedicated to communication on the respective communication systems. To minimize product cost, resources are shared wherever possible between communication on respective modes. A system supervisor (304) prioritizes, schedules and controls communication between the communication device and the autonomous communication systems.

Air Force grounds planes for one-day safety review, after string of deadly crashes
During a briefing with reporters on Tuesday, the Air Force Chief of Safety Maj. Gen. John Rauch said there hasn't been a trend connecting fatal Air Force aviation incidents, but that a cluster of mishaps led to the stand down.

In fact, Del Rio is one of only seven coaches in Raiders franchise history to depart with a winning record, along with Al Davis (23-16-3), John Rauch (33-8-1), John Madden (103-32-7), Tom Flores (83-53), Art Shell (56-52) and Gruden (38-26).

For a real-life comparison, picture some teenager on a moped taking charge of the Hells Angels. But Madden's t
