Abstract:

A process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone comprises contacting benzene with a Calkylating agent under alkylation conditions with catalyst comprising zeolite beta or a molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12. 40. 25, 6. 90. 15, 3. 570. 07 and 3. 420. 07 Angstrom to produce an alkylation effluent comprising sec-butylbenzene. The sec-butylbenzene is then oxidized to produce a hydroperoxide and the hydroperoxide is decomposed to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketone.

Abstract:

Method and apparatus for encoding a video signal wherein the prediction errors for previously encoded pels are evaluated using motion compensation and frame difference predictions. Each present pel intensity value is then predicted using the technique which produced the smaller prediction error sum. Prediction errors for the present pel are encoded, together with address information, if the error exceeds a threshold value. The motion compensated prediction utilizes a displacement estimate which is recursively updated. A decoder is also described.

Methods and compositions are provided for cloning and expression of serum opacity factor of Streptococcus pyogenes genes. The portion produced by the recombinant DNA techniques described herein may be employed in qualitative and quantitative testing for high density lipoprotein, as a fibronectin binding factor and for the regulation of high density lipoprotein in a mammal. Abstract:

A technique for estimation of displacement and/or velocity of objects in television scenes is recursive, in that each displacement calculation is made using the results of the previous calculation. In a first embodiment, a displaced frame difference DFD (i. e. , the intensity difference between a spatial location in the present video frame and a location in the previous frame displaced from that location by an initial displacement estimate) is updated using the initial value of DFD normalized by a measure of local picture activity. In a second embodiment, the update is a multiplicative function of DFD and the intensity gradient at the displaced location in the previous frame.
