Abstract:

A process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone comprises contacting benzene with a Calkylating agent under alkylation conditions with catalyst comprising zeolite beta or a molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12. 40. 25, 6. 90. 15, 3. 570. 07 and 3. 420. 07 Angstrom to produce an alkylation effluent comprising sec-butylbenzene. The sec-butylbenzene is then oxidized to produce a hydroperoxide and the hydroperoxide is decomposed to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketone.

Methods and compositions are provided for cloning and expression of serum opacity factor of Streptococcus pyogenes genes. The portion produced by the recombinant DNA techniques described herein may be employed in qualitative and quantitative testing for high density lipoprotein, as a fibronectin binding factor and for the regulation of high density lipoprotein in a mammal. A teleconferencing system 100 is disclosed having a video camera for generating a video signal representative of a video image of a first station B. A microphone array 150, 160 is also provided in the first station for receiving a sound from one or more fixed non-overlapping volume zones 151, 152, 153, 154, 155, 156, 157, 158, 159, into which the first station is divided. The microphone array is also provided for generating a monochannel audio signal 170 representative of the received sound and a direction signal indicating, based on the sound received from each zone, from which of the volume zones the sound originated. The teleconferencing system also includes a display device 120A at a second station A for displaying a video image of the first station. A loudspeaker control device 140 is also provided at the second station for selecting a virtual location 121 on the displayed video image depending on the direction signal, and for generating stereo sound from the monochannel audio signal which stereo sound emanates from the virtual location on the displayed video image.

Abstract:

Information defining elements of a picture is estimated by interpolation using information from related locations in preceding and succeeding versions of the picture. The related locations are determined by forming an estimate of the displacement of objects in the picture. Displacement estimates are advantageously formed recursively, with updates being formed only in moving areas of the picture. If desired, an adaptive technique can be used to permit motion compensated interpolation or fixed position interpolation, depending upon which produces better results.
